SPRINGFIELD, MA — The Flexographic Pre-Press Platemakers Association (FPPA)Board of Directors recently gathered for a strategic planning session focused on building upon the association's recent growth and strengthening its value to members and the broader flexographic prepress community.
The session provided an opportunity for Board members to reflect on FPPA's progress, reaffirm the values that have long defined the organization, and align around a vision that will guide its work in the years ahead.
FPPA enters this next phase of growth from a position of strength. Since 2022, the association has achieved more than 60% growth in membership and nearly 63% growth in Annual Conference attendance, reflecting increasing engagement across the flexographic prepress community. FPPA's virtual Fall Workshop has further expanded the association's reach, attracting nearly 100 unique participants in 2025 and demonstrating strong demand for accessible, high-quality technical education.
"This session reinforced that FPPA's greatest strength is its community," said Aaron Pettijohn, FPPA President. "Our members value the ability to build genuine relationships, exchange knowledge openly, and work together to address the opportunities and challenges facing the industry. Our strategy is focused on protecting that culture while finding thoughtful ways to deliver even greater value."
Throughout the discussion, the Board reaffirmed the principles that continue to set FPPA apart: a commitment to collaboration, a strong sense of community, the open exchange of technical knowledge and best practices, and a deep appreciation for the people whose contributions have shaped the industry. These values will remain at the center of the association's events, educational programs, communications, and future initiatives.
Building on that foundation, Board members aligned on a vision to strengthen FPPA's role as a trusted resource and connector for the flexographic prepress and platemaking community. A key focus will be continuing to elevate the FPPA Annual Conference as the premier gathering for industry professionals, creating an environment where meaningful business relationships, technical learning, and industry collaboration can thrive.
Technical education will remain a cornerstone of the association's mission. Building on the success of the Fall Workshop, FPPA plans to expand opportunities for members to gain practical insights, technical expertise, access to emerging technologies, troubleshooting strategies, and operational best practices. These efforts are designed to support professionals at every stage of their careers while helping member companies navigate an evolving marketplace.
The Board also identified opportunities to elevate the profile of both FPPA and the flexographic prepress and platemaking profession through enhanced storytelling, educational content, thought leadership, and member engagement. As part of that effort, the association will begin work on an updated mission statement and visual identity designed to reflect FPPA's evolution and future aspirations.
While the association is focused on growth, Board members emphasized that success will be measured not simply by membership numbers or event attendance, but by FPPA's ability to foster meaningful connections, deliver value, and support continued progress across the industry. FPPA remains committed to preserving the qualities members value most: direct access to industry peers, education, strong supplier relationships, open collaboration, and a welcoming professional community built on trust and shared success.
"Our industry continues to change, and FPPA has an opportunity to help our members move forward together," Pettijohn said. "By remaining focused on connection, education, and shared progress, we can continue building an association that serves the needs of today while preparing for the future."
