In a recent conversation, Bruce James told WhatTheyThink:

I will continue the work in higher education I have been involved with for many years. I am on the Associated Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges, a Washington D.C. organization that is comprised of all of the trustees of the public and private universities in the U.S. with a board of about 20 of us. I am also involved with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, one of the regional accrediting organizations. That has helped me get a much fuller understanding of what people are thinking in terms of the quality of our educational system. My fear is that much of what we are doing in college accrediting is in the analog world and we need to move that into the 21st Century. I will have the chance to look at that from the inside and help that process along. And Nora and I will continue to live in the
Lake Tahoe area in our log cabin, built in 1926 and overlooking the lake.
