NEENAH IMAGEMAX Signage, the Sustainable Alternative to Styrene

Press release from the issuing company

To meet the growing demand for sustainable wide format solutions, Neenah launches NEENAH IMAGEMAX® Signage, a 100% paper-based alternative to styrene.

Alpharetta, Ga. – Neenah today announced the introduction of NEENAH IMAGEMAX® Signage, an all-new 100% paper-based wide format product. This latest addition to Neenah’s vast environmental product offering is FSC®, Green-e®, and SmartWay® certified to meet the growing demand for a sustainable alternative to traditional styrene products. It is a smooth coated substrate designed to produce remarkable printing results via UV, UV-Gel, latex, and screen printing techniques. Available in all standard wide format calipers, NEENAH IMAGEMAX Signage is suitable for applications such as hanging signage, point of purchase & point of sale signs, shelf-talkers, and directional signage.

“Neenah is known in the marketplace for our environmental leadership and for producing top quality products. We’ve specifically engineered this product to the highest sustainability standards for paper-based signage with exceptional, long-lasting brightness. Our customers have been asking for an environmentally responsible styrene alternative, and we delivered in a big way with NEENAH IMAGEMAX Signage,” said Jeremy Frank, Director of Sales and Marketing, Wide Format and Emerging Categories for Neenah

Beyond its environmental benefits, NEENAH IMAGEMAX Signage is superior to styrene alternatives both on press and in the marketplace as follows:

• Static-free for smoother, faster printing and minimized nozzle drop-out

• Up to 20% lighter which equals more savings on shipping

• 94% brightness for clearer, longer-lasting image reproduction that won’t yellow

• Dead white for double-sided printing

• Ink absorption which allows for exemplary printing without banding

• Faster cut times for improved production efficiency

• No fingerprints – paper-based composition does not capture oils

“Print service providers are responsible for ensuring that printed marketing messages are delivered beautifully, quickly, and without excess waste. With our product, printers are assured maximum effectiveness with minimum waste. We’ve already had success with global brands using NEENAH IMAGEMAX Signage in recent marketing campaigns," says Frank.

"We’re looking forward to more brands gaining the benefits of choosing an environmentally conscious signage as part of their overall marketing strategy,” continued Frank.

These new products are showcased in an innovative visual reference tool that is available now. Neenah created this tool using real-world UV printing conditions to show how NEENAH IMAGEMAX Signage is not only a responsible replacement for styrene but how it improves workflow and elevates print quality for brands. The promotion printed samples of each caliper of NEENAH IMAGEMAX paper-based signage alongside a styrene sheet featuring special treatments such as white ink, contour cutting, creasing, and challenging printing scenarios like solid gray and gradients.

“The purpose of this reference tool is to allow print service providers, end-users, and distributors to see and feel NEENAH IMAGEMAX Signage side-by-side with styrene. Customers are quickly able to compare whiteness and brightness, print fidelity, tooling capabilities, and much more. Creating this tool allowed us to test and prove that NEENAH IMAGEMAX Signage outperforms styrene signage, and now customers can see it for themselves,” says Frank.
