Q.I. Press Controls Takes First Steps on the Finnish Heatset Market with Order from PunaMusta Oy

Press release from the issuing company

Oosterhout – The Finnish printing company PunaMusta Oy will be the first heatset printing company in the country with automation from Q.I. Press Controls (QIPC). The Dutch specialist in measuring and control equipment for the printing industry supplies PunaMusta Oy with closed-loop colour control including register and cut-off control. "A great opportunity to prove ourselves to PunaMusta Oy and other heatset printers in the Nordic region".

Good reputation
The existing automation on the Goss M600 press is outdated and no longer supported. PunaMusta Oy decided to broaden the scope in the search for replacement and quickly found a new possible partner in QIPC. Juha Kankainen, Managing Director of JK Automation and QIPC’s agent for Finland, played an important role in bringing the two companies together. "QIPC has a very good reputation in the printing industry," says PunaMusta Oy’s Managing Director Jari Avellán when he explains why he started talking to QIPC. "A visit to a reference printing company in the Netherlands was also very convincing”.

Savings
The choice to equip the Goss M600 with QIPC's mRC-3D system for colour register and cut-off control and IDS-3D for colour control was then quickly made. QIPC's systems will make the whole operation of the press, which mainly prints magazines and commercial products, more efficient. Jari Avellán: "With this new automation we are counting on substantial savings in waste. In addition, we believe that the system will be more reliable and therefore we have less downtime on the press".

First installation
PunaMusta Oy's order is a premiere for QIPC, as it is the first heatset press in Finland to be equipped with QIPC's systems. "PunaMusta Oy is the largest heatset printer in the country". QIPC's Director of Global Sales & Marketing Erwin van Rossem is delighted with the new cooperation. "In addition to this press, they have nine other heatset presses. So this first installation is a great opportunity for us to prove ourselves to PunaMusta Oy and other heatset printers in the Nordic region".

Installation
A total of seven mRC-3D cameras and two IDS-3D cameras will be installed on the Goss M600 press at the printing facility in Joensuu, in eastern Finland. The installation is planned to start in week 10 of 2020.
