MGI To Show Digital Innovations At Graph Expo

MELBOURNE, Fla. (October 7, 2008) – MGI Digital Graphic Technology/MGI USA, the multi-substrate (paper and plastic) digital press and finishing solutions manufacturer, will be exhibiting their full line of digital printing and finishing solutions for paper and plastic substrates at GraphExpo, held October 26-29, 2008 at McCormick Place in Chicago. In addition to their existing product line, MGI USA has chosen GraphExpo as the venue for the U.S. launch of the Meteor DP60 Series 4-color digital presses and the new 3D Vision digital lenticular press for special effects applications.

Meteor DP60 Series 4-Color Digital Presses

The Meteor DP60 Pro 4-color digital press for paper and plastic substrates is the flagship model in the DP60 series. Designed for high volume printing, the Meteor DP60 Pro has the capability to produce up to 3900 letter/A4 sheets, 1600 13" x 19" (330mm x 487mm) sheets, and up to 32,000 ISO CR-80 PVC plastic cards hourly, in four colors with full variable data. It can accommodate sizes up to 13" x 19" (330mm x 487mm) with a maximum print area of 12.6" x 18.9" (320mm x 480mm).

The most versatile digital press in the industry, the Meteor DP60 Pro can print on the widest range of paper and plastic substrates. Compatible paper types include matte, glossy, CS1 & CS2, envelopes, textured papers and labels/stickers, in sizes up to 130lb cover and 194lb index (70 to 350 gsm).  Plastic substrates include PVC, polycarbonate, polyester, Teslin, vinyl and PET, in thicknesses up to 16mil (100 to 400 microns). All substrates can be printed in high quality resolutions of up to 2400dpi x 200lpi with variable line screen capabilities.

Since its worldwide launch at drupa 2008, more than fifty graphic professionals in countries including Australia/New Zealand, India, China, Mexico, Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, Peru, Trinidad, Russia, France, Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, Greece, Spain, Italy, Canada and the United States have made the Meteor DP60 Pro their digital printing solution of choice.

Designed exclusively for paper substrates and specific synthetics such as Teslin, the Meteor DP60 Paper has a duty cycle of up to 600,000 pages per month, with a total input capacity of 8300 sheets and over 2 hours of continuous feed time.

The DP60 series has full variable data capabilities and is compatible with most standard software applications as well as PPML and VPS formats. Applications include auto-numbering, bar codes, alphanumeric databases, direct mail, photo/identification cards, and a wide range of others.

3D Vision Digital Lenticular Press

MGI's new 3D Vision 4-color digital lenticular press for special effects applications makes the visual impact of 3D printing accessible to all members of the graphics industry. Fast, efficient and cost-effective, the 3D Vision prints directly onto MGI's exclusive lenses for brilliant, eye-catching prints in just seconds, perfect for applications including postcards, business cards, posters and a wide range of others. With the 3D Vision, graphics professionals can offer an on-demand digital lenticular solution to customers at a fraction of the investment of larger lenticular printing options and in a compact machine perfectly suited for short-run jobs.
