Oce Demonstrates Arizona T220 Flatbed Ink Jet Printer at ISA

Press release from the issuing company

ORLANDO, Fl., Apr. 4, 2002 - Oce Display Graphics Systems today unveiled the Oce Arizona T220 outdoor-durable flatbed ink jet printer that can print to a variety of uncoated or coated, rigid or flexible substrates. The Arizona T220 is on display here at the International Sign Expo 2002, in booth #214. The Oce Arizona T220 is a production speed ink jet printer that uses piezo printing technology and solvent-based inks to produce outdoor-durable output. It can print directly onto rigid and flexible substrates up to 62" wide x 120" long x 2" thick (157.7 cm W x 304.8 cm L x 5.1 cm T). There is no minimum print size, which eliminates the need to use more material than necessary. With four print heads per color, the Oce Arizona T220 can achieve print speeds of up to 400 square feet (37.2 square meters) per hour in two-pass mode, and up to 200 square feet (18.6 square meters) per hour in four-pass mode. "The Oce Arizona T220 comes from a long line of robust, production-oriented ink jet printers," said Rak Kumar, CEO of Oce Display Graphics Systems. "It offers all the quality and speed that rival the most expensive systems on the market, at an affordable price." The Oce Arizona T220 holds substrates stationary on a flat, vacuum table while the print head assembly moves across the table to create the print, eliminating image skew problems associated with manual-fed systems. It can print full bleeds, saving time and labor costs in finishing. The Oce Arizona T220 uses the company's unique ColorBlendTM Technology, which adds light cyan and light magenta to achieve a wider color gamut, smoother mid-tones, and an apparent resolution of 600 dpi. Auto-sensing of the media surface and size ensures that the print carriage is at the proper height for optimal printing. The Oce Arizona T220 can print directly onto a variety of uncoated or coated, rigid or flexible substrates such as foam-core style mounting board, vinyl, tile, PVC sheets, carpet and more. It is ideal for producing exhibit graphics, point-of-purchase displays, proofs and comps, plus specialty items such as custom tiles and window blinds. Pricing and Availability The Oce Arizona T220 will carry a list price of $175,000 in the U.S. Oce Display Graphics Systems expects to begin production shipments of the Arizona T220 in the summer of 2002.
