Fort Dearborn Expands Digital Labels and Packaging Capacity in Deal for Multiple HP Indigo 20000 and 6900 Presses

Fort Dearborn Company, a leading North American supplier of high-impact prime labels for the consumer goods industry, has made a multi-million dollar purchase of five new high-performance HP Indigo labels and packaging presses, more than doubling digital capacity to deliver innovative and more sustainable digital printing services.

The expanded digital capacity—both HP Indigo 20000 and 6900 digital presses—will enable FDC to expand production and speed delivery of digitally printed wrap-around labels, cut and stack labels, security labels, pressure sensitive, and shrink sleeves. The new technology also supports advanced workflow powered by HP PrintOS and special inks, boosting the offering to the labels and packaging market.

Headquartered in Elk Grove, Illinois, Fort Dearborn operates from 17 manufacturing sites in the US and Canada, today operating a fleet of HP Indigo 6800/6900 and 20000 presses.

The mid-web HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press is a highly productive digital press for endless possibilities in label, shrink sleeve and flexible packaging production. The 76 cm (30-inch) HP Indigo 20000 provides converters the ability to deliver unlimited variation thanks to the new HP Production Pro for Labels and Packaging digital front end delivering fast RIP power for variable data and support for growing SKUs.

The HP Indigo 6900 Digital Press, the latest high-versatility narrow-web press, offers a wide variety of brand protection solutions including invisible security inks and powerful software tools.
