Komori and Komcan Extending Leadership in the Canadian Packaging Market

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, Ill. – Komori America today announced that Komcan Inc., Komori’s exclusive dealer in Canada, reported an impressive year of Komori press installations in 2018. Komcan’s strong partnership with Komori has provided many benefits for commercial and packaging printers throughout Canada, which was demonstrated in the announcement of four new press installations—three to packaging printers. Komcan and Komori continue to exceed the expectations of their customers by providing quality 24/7 service coupled with the most advanced printing technology.

Steve Ranson, president of Komcan, sums up Komcan’s successful year, “We work very closely with our colleagues at Komori America to provide Canadian printers the expertise they need to select the Komori press that will handle their printing challenges, as well as support their growth and profitability. The printers in our market trust Komori presses for their advanced technology and reliability. It keeps them coming back when it’s time for a new press.”

Highlights from Komcan’s 2018 Komori sales include:

Ellis Packaging Limited of Pickering, Ontario (part of The Ellis Group), one of the largest independent Canadian packaging companies, purchased its sixth Komori press, a six-color Komori Lithrone GX40 with coater (GLX640C). The Ellis Group now has the largest number of GL presses in North America, with two presses in each of its three locations. Ellis Packaging reports its commitment to Komori is the result of superior press technology, a lower cost of ownership, reliability and the exemplary service Komcan offers.

Produlith Packaging, a full-service folding carton and flexible packaging company in Montreal, Quebec, replaced two competitive presses with the purchase of a six-color Komori Lithrone GX40 with coater (GLX640C) with H-UV ink curing system, along with Komori’s KP-Connect, a cloud-based technology for data-driven operations that offers real-time control of all printing processes. With a goal to improve efficiency, Produlith Packaging is benefiting from the advanced automation, streamlined operations and increased capacity the GLX640C with H-UV delivers. The addition of KP-Connect, Komori’s cloud-based production management system, further enhances the company’s efficiency gains.

· Whitehouse Graphics of Vaughan, Ontario installed a six-color Komori Lithrone G40 with coater (GL640C) in its new facility in Woodbridge, replacing a competitive press. Reliability and increased efficiency played heavily into the decision to upgrade to the GL640C, as did the need to produce specialized packaging customers were requesting. The company is taking full advantage of the advanced technology of the GL640C to produce stunning, vivid color on difficult stocks for packaging, while increasing run speed and decreasing waste.

Komcan continued its success in the commercial marketplace with another Komori installation at Astley Gilbert, a full-service print and imaging solutions provider in Toronto, Ontario, which has been a Komori operation for many years. The company works with agencies and high-end Fortune 500 clients that require high-quality printing, often in short runs and with stringent deadlines. This led Astley Gilbert to add an eight-color Komori Lithrone G40P with coater (GL840PC) with Komori’s H-UV ink curing system. The company reports the GL840PC with H-UV has significantly increased efficiency and reduced time to market.

“We congratulate Komcan on a successful 2018,” said Jacki Hudmon, senior VP of sales and marketing at Komori America. “We value our long-term partnership with Komcan and are thrilled that Canada’s innovative print and packaging customers have the dedicated support Komcan provides to realize their business goals and take their print offerings to the next level.”
