Agfa Launches Fourth Annual Young Creatives Contest

Design Students From Around the World Are Challenged To Express "The Time of Your Life" Mortsel, Belgium, July 9, 2002 – Agfa announced the launching of its Fourth Annual International Young Creatives Contest. Agfa invites design, graphic arts and photography students between the ages of 17 and 30 to submit packaging designs that represent a favorite moment in time. Entrants must submit designs no later than 25 October 2002. Gold and platinum winners will be selected by a jury of print and packaging professionals. Winners will be announced mid-November. "The Time of Your Life" is the subject of the design project. Students must select a special occasion to depict on the package, which includes a folding box, a label for a tin can and a sticker for the top of the tin. They are to suppose that the box and the tin are promotional packaging for a watch give-away. Agfa supplies the templates for the three items. They can be found at http://www.agfa.com/aycc/2002/ along with complete contest rules. The jury will select 4 Platinum-award winners and 10 Gold-award winners. Platinum winners will participate in an all-expenses paid trip to Europe in February 2003. The winners will participate in graphic arts workshops, make a visit to a graphic arts trade show, go shopping, sightseeing and much more. The winning designs will be printed and used as actual promotional packaging for a watch give-away. Gold-award winners will receive a wristwatch as well as a premium publication on design and the graphic arts. All winners will be shown at Agfa’s website and displayed at a trade show. The Young Creatives Contest was conceived by Agfa four years ago to stimulate interest in the graphic arts among young people. Agfa’s purpose is to help educate talented young people in the intricacies of the production process.
