Sharp Introduces The AR-651; Advanced Document Finishing Features

MAHWAH, N.J., Aug. 15 -- Sharp Electronics Corp. today introduced the AR-651 IMAGER Advanced Digital Document System, offering a wide range of standard features and finishing options for busy offices and workgroups. The AR-651 features a 65-ppm copy/print speed and 600 x 2400 dpi resolution, the highest resolution in its class. The AR-651 is designed to enhance the productivity of busy workgroups and office environments with a new, robust 500 Mhz print controller and Sharp-developed software utility integration that will enable network scanning capability. The AR-651 is equipped with standard features including 32 MB copier memory with a 10GB hard drive, as well as two 500-sheet paper drawers and one tandem 2,500-sheet paper drawer, supporting up to 110 lb. index stock. Additionally, an optional 4,000-sheet Large Capacity Paper Deck can maximize online paper handling of up to 7,600 sheets. The AR-651 also offers three optional finishers, including a post-sheet insertion finisher that can process up to 140 lb. index stock. The AR-651's first-time copy speed is a brisk 3.2 seconds, with a maximum monthly volume of 460,000 impressions. "The AR-651 is a very strong option for busy office professionals," said Thomas H. The AR-651's other standard features include advanced network connectivity, 150 access codes for increased security, automatic paper selection and sort mode, an intuitive touch-screen control panel and a 100-sheet reversing automatic document feeder. The AR-651's 600 x 2400 dpi resolution produces exceptional clarity and detail, delivering consistent image quality from start to finish. The unit offers 256-level grayscale, with photo mode, automatic exposure control, automatic process control and scan-once, print-many capability. The AR-651's optional EFI Fiery print controller option can turn the model into a high-speed network office printer/scanner, ideal for central reproduction departments and high-volume office environments. The optional 500 Mhz print controller will support Sharp Printer Administration Utility, Printer Status Monitor and Sharpdesk Document Management software and offers a variety of network client support. Multi-position stapling and saddle-stitch control, automatic duplexing, page enlargement/reduction, tab printing, confidential/secure (PIN) printing, watermarking and many other advanced features can be accessed directly through the standard PCL XL driver.
