Version 2.50 adds several exciting new features including support for PDF/X Plus workflow checks and an optional hotfolder automation module. Go beyond PDF/X with Checkup's new PDF/X Plus workflow. A valid PDF/X file may still contain a low-resolution image or an unexpected spot color. With the new PDF/X Plus workflow checks, such potential problems can be avoided. Checkup can now detect low-resolution images, images compressed using JPEG, CID and TrueType fonts, and spot colors. "Designers, ad agencies, corporate graphics departments, prepress firms and publishers can be confident that when they use PDF/X Checkup to create compliant PDF/X files that they will print predictably, reliably and without any fuss," said Dwight Kelly, President of Apago, Inc. "The inclusion of common preflight checks along with the established PDF/X conformance checks, will significantly streamline the ad production workflow. PDF/X-1 Checkup is an easy, affordable way for anyone to generate reliable PDF/X ads." PDF/X-1 Checkup was the first application to support the PDF/X-1a standard and it continues to be the benchmark against which other PDF/X programs are judged. PDF/X-1 Checkup was used to produce the first PDF/X-1a advertisement, workflow and magazine. PDF/X-1 Checkup is easy to use. Checkup displays a "Thumbs Up" message when a complaint PDF/X file is checked. If problems exist in the PDF file, the software gives a "Thumbs Down." Most problems are corrected simply by clicking the "Fix All" button in the Checkup dialog. PDF/X-1 Checkup is reliable. The software insures that your PDF files are 100% legal with the PDF/X-1a standard. It will not allow an illegal file to be labeled as a legal PDF/X file. If Checkup detects an illegal PDF/X file, it can remove the PDF/X information from the PDF. PDF/X-1 Checkup version 2.50 is compatible with Adobe Acrobat 4 and 5 and is available for both Windows and Macintosh. The retail price for one copy is US$249 and US$349 with the optional hot-folder automation module. Site and company licenses are available.
