Epson Launches Macintosh Ink Jet Printer for $99

Press release from the issuing company

LONG BEACH, Calif.--Epson America Inc., creator of high-quality, award-winning imaging products, today announced a new $99 four-color ink jet printer designed to provide outstanding image quality and performance in addition to matching the new colors and designs featured in Apple's new line of iMacs and PowerMac G4 computers. The EPSON Stylus(R) Color 777i is tailored to meet the needs of consumers who want the most value for the lowest price. Priced at only $99, this printer features not only class-leading 2880 dpi resolution and four-picoliter droplets for superior photo quality, but also up to eight pages per minute (ppm) in black text printing and up to six ppm for text and color graphics. The printer also features an innovative, contoured industrial design with a stylish "ice" exterior case and a standard indigo lid. Additional color lids are available in ruby, sage, graphite and purple for $9.95. "This printer is an excellent value and an attractive addition to any Macintosh system," said Rodrigo Catalan, product manager, consumer ink jet printers, Epson. "The fact that you get outstanding print performance for only $ 99 in a design that will match your iMac or PowerMac G4, makes this a must-have printer for any Mac system." Using Epson's Advanced Micro Piezo technology, the Stylus Color 777i offers extremely detailed image quality. Epson also has engineered the printer software for greater saturation and better shadow and highlight detail to give the best print quality, and printing photo quality images is a standard feature out of the box with no other ink cartridges to buy. Furthermore, the printer is easy to setup and operate using onscreen, animated "Fix-It Flix" that help users troubleshoot without having to refer to a manual. The Stylus Color 777i uses Epson's new "Intelligent Ink" cartridge technology that enables users to remove and replace a cartridge that may be low on ink in order to complete larger print jobs. Later the original cartridge can be reinstalled for smaller print jobs. This new printer is compatible with both Macintosh and Windows platforms and has both USB and parallel connectivity. It also includes a value-packed software bundle that features EPSON Film Factory for collecting and organizing digital photos and Trellix Web (PC only) for creating personalized Web sites and Corel Printhouse(TM) 2000 for publishing and photo editing. It is also supported by the EPSON Connection(SM), a customer support and technical assistance line.
