Canon Solutions America Helps DMM Expand Capabilities from Toner Based to the Océ VarioPrint i300 Inkjet Technology

Press release from the issuing company

Color consistency, fast run speeds, and quick turnarounds for enhanced transactional print delivery

Melville, N.Y. – Canon Solutions America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., Inc. today announced that DMM, Inc., a privately held document solutions company that specializes in transactional print and electronic delivery across multiple industries, recently acquired an Océ VarioPrint i300 sheet fed inkjet press. DMM's inkjet technology investment, aligned with the Océ PRISMA workflow software, will provide color consistency, faster run speeds, and quick turnarounds to help better serve and grow the company's vast range of customers.

As leaders in the space of transactional printing, DMM is constantly in pursuit of the latest technology developments and so, the company chose the Océ VarioPrint i300 as their best choice to enable the company to expand its capabilities from toner based to inkjet technology. The Océ VarioPrint installation has helped DMM achieve consistent color quality and throughput, as well as low operational costs helping them to pass on savings to its customers. DMM is able to further support transactional print clients by making it cost-effective to add color to monochrome documents and provide faster processing times—reducing time to market.

"The implementation of the Océ VarioPrint i300 gives us the versatility to produce a higher volume of output for a greater range of clients," said John Cloutier, President and CEO. "With our increase in transactional contracts, more compliance requirements, and tighter SLAs, we needed a process to streamline workflow and production. Many compliance customers require 'same day' and 'next day' service levels, and this technology makes that much more manageable."
According to DMM, the Océ VarioPrint i300 provides the company an opportunity to serve a greater range of clients based on the benefits the inkjet technology has to offer, such as:

  • Custom program development that can be set up on the prepress platform for clients in regulated industries.
High volumes and fast turnarounds when achieving service levels for compliance customers.
  • High volume inkjet color printing with consistent color quality and fast time to market for traditional direct mail marketing customers.
  • Color and black and white printing consolidated into one press, helping provide uninterrupted production.

"DMM is a technology-driven company, and the Océ VarioPrint i300 and PRISMA software was a natural next step for us," added Cloutier. "In this ever-changing business landscape and its requirements of faster communication, faster results, and customers seeking a real world experience that reflects their online one, we are looking all the time for the next cutting-edge technology to stay relevant and serve those needs."

The decision to pair the Océ VarioPrint i300 with the versatile Océ PRISMA workflow software, an end-to-end software suite that covers every stage in document production, prepares DMM to streamline operations and take advantage of the Océ inkjet technology's automated workflow with added stability and flexibility. The additional investment permits DMM to further enrich the customer experience by leveraging both the hardware and software technology Canon Solutions America has to offer.

"Our relationship with DMM was established several years ago and we are delighted to see that the company continues to feel confident in our products and our level of reliability to help improve client opportunities," said Francis McMahon, Executive Vice President, Production Print Solutions, Canon Solutions America. "With the installation of the Océ VarioPrint i300, DMM is poised to effectively meet demands and will certainly notice a vast difference in the client experience."
