CMYK Distributors Announces Installation of InkZone at CrossTech Communications, One of Chicago’s Last Commercial Printers

Press release from the issuing company

Commercial printers are a dying breed in Chicago, but CrossTech Communications isn’t going anywhere, demonstrating their commitment to delivering quality without compromise with the installation of their new InkZone Ink Presets and Closed-Loop Color Control system.

Weymouth, Mass. – CMYK Distributors, Inc. today announces the installation of InkZone Ink-Presets and Closed-Loop color control technology at CrossTech Communications, located in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood.

Founded in 1981, CrossTech Communications is a printing and prepress company specializing in high-end offset printing, HP Indigo digital printing, envelope printing, web-to-print platforms, wide format inkjet posters, banners, mounting and lamination, digital assembly, pharmaceutical artwork, and typography. Leveraging state-of-the-art technology and the know-how to use these tools to their clients’ advantage, CrossTech Communications remains a leader in commercial printing by evolving with the marketplace and bringing reliable solutions to the table for their clients.

In 2015, the company invested in a Heidelberg press for their offset printing division that did not come equipped with ink presets or closed-loop color control. Recognizing the need for automation to address productivity concerns, as well as customer demands, CrossTech Communications decided to invest in InkZone.

The InkZone Ink-Presets & Closed-Loop solution delivers state-of-the-art ink key presetting and closed-loop color control technology for all offset presses for substantially shorter make-ready time, reduced paper waste, and considerably-improved color quality. For CrossTech Communications, the installation of InkZone has been a boon to both productivity and quality.

“We are a mid-sized commercial printer, and because our print runs are relatively small, we were mistakenly under the impression that closed-loop color control was a solution that was out of our league,” said Andy McPherson, President of CrossTech Communications. “After speaking with Mark Williams at CMYK Distributors, however, we came to understand the potential benefits of automating our Heidelberg with InkZone and the competitive advantage that this investment would yield for our company.”

McPherson continues, “The value of InkZone to CrossTech’s business cannot be overstated. As one of downtown Chicago’s last commercial print facilities, we are busier than ever. With InkZone, we’ve increased productivity and been able to meet customer demands with confidence and accuracy. The ROI is solid, and CMYK Distributor’s customer support is top-notch.”
