Twenty Years of CGS at PRINT 18

Press release from the issuing company

CGS highlights cold foil and new expanded gamut capabilities on booth 2203

Minneapolis, Minn. – Graphic Arts Industry leader, CGS Publishing Technologies International will be demonstrating the latest in ORIS technology during this year’s Print 18 (Booth 2203), September 30 – October 2, at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL.

CGS has been leading the graphic arts industry for well over a quarter of a century. For twenty years, CGS has unveiled new technologies and showcased its award-winning solutions during Graph Expos. “As the printing industry has evolved and changed, this event has always reflected the best aspects of this dynamic industry. We’re always proud to be part of it,” comments CEO Trevor Haworth.

With the announcement of their latest product release ORIS X Gamut, aimed towards expanded gamut color management, CGS continues to push boundaries in pursuit of optimizing color management workflows. CGS will be showcasing their true-to-life scanning capabilities with the line of CGS-METIS Scanners. Within the packaging sector, the company has earned acclaim for their visualization product, ORIS Flex Pack with iC3D 3D prototyping capabilities, which will be demoed on the show floor.

New Product Highlights
ORIS X Gamut is CGS-ORIS’ new color management solution for expanded gamut printing, on traditional offset, flexo and gravure as well as digital technology offerings. Its patented technology is completely automated, using intelligent workflow tools to color manage presses, including the latest digital presses, easily and reliably so users can achieve consistent color reproduction across all forms of printing technologies. ‘With a robust set of expanded gamut profiling tools, end users will increase efficiency while achieving accurate Spot Color reproduction. This creates a unique opportunity for digital press technology utilizing expanded gamut ink sets in the packaging market,” comments Cory Sawatzki, Director of Digital Print Technology. The product is set to officially launch during the show.

For the décor and industrial print markets at the show, CGS-METIS will showcase their line of METIS scanners. “We live in the digital era. Following the trend of digital – our goal is to provide the best possible digital images for the reproduction process,” explains Rob Lawrence, CGS-METIS business development. In a single capture, METIS technology is able to fully capture the three components necessary for texture reproduction: color, texture and glossiness detail. For the decorative laminate flooring industry, this accuracy means embossing and registration of these three components becomes more precise. “Another recurring theme we will be discussing is the need for better Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) visualizations. With METIS scanning technology, we have seen a dramatic improvement in CGI renders. This is mainly in part to METIS’ ability to capture color, texture and glossiness all in-register, in a single scan.”
