NUR Salsa 3200 Creates 10' x 20' for Exhibit at UCLA's Hammer Museum

Press release from the issuing company

Newton, MA; A new, innovative exhibit at the UCLA Hammer Museum features a unique, one of a kind large scale graphic image created by UCLA Department of Architecture and Urban design faculty members and graduate students to illustrate their designs for life and housing in the 21st century. The striking 10' x 20' image was printed on vinyl banner material in black and white plus one color. It was then mounted in a wooden frame and positioned in the gallery housing the exhibit to accompany the exhibit's other major visual, a large-scale 3D design model. In preparing for the exhibit, the UCLA staff members and graduate students had sought a printing technology that could produce a superwide image at extremely high resolution and determined that the NUR Salsa photorealistic inkjet printer could provide the solution they needed. The high resolution (600 dpi) print was produced as a single piece on a NUR Salsa 3200 photorealistic inkjet printer at NUR America's San Antonio, TX demonstration facility; the company donated both time and materials for the banner to the exhibit organizers. Comments Mario Cipresso, one of the graduate students participating in the program, "The graphic itself is very impressive. Everyone is really wowed by the size of it. And one of the best parts is that the jogger pictured in the image is at full life size giving scale to the rest of the image! Exhibit goers are reacting very favorably to the image and we're pleased to have had help from NUR America in making it possible." The exhibit, entitled "Live Dangerously" opened on October 4 and runs through January 7 at UCLA's Hammer Museum, 10899 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA (310) 443-7000. Material on view in the exhibit includes models and drawings of design projects investigating new modes of dwelling-from the house of tomorrow to today's ubiquitous hotel room-as well as critical investigations into the history and theory of forces currently reconfiguring the domestic environment. The NUR Salsa 3200 is a versatile photorealistic printer that uses piezo drop-on demand inkjet technology to print on a wide variety of substrates for indoor or outdoor applications at resolutions up to 600 dpi. To achieve its high level of photorealism and vibrancy, the machine prints using eight solvent-based pigmented inks, CMYK and light CMYK on roll fed material in widths up to ten feet. The machine features four printing modes, with speeds ranging from 85 sq. ft./hr. in photo HQ mode to 590 sq. ft./hr. in draft mode. About NUR America, Inc.
