DALIM SOFTWARE Focuses on Best Practices Production and Content Management at Recently Concluded US DUO Users’ Meeting

Press release from the issuing company

DALIM SOFTWARE (www.dalim.com), makers of highly efficient, scalable software solutions for the creation, production and management of cross-media content, announces it held another successful annual US DUO Conference, held at the Renaissance Denver Downtown City Center. During the event, David Jorgensen, Pre-Media Workflow Administrator at Creel Printing, was appointed President and Ed Nicholson, Color Specialist at Carey Color, was named Vice President of the organization. Rick Darnell, VP, Dalim Network Administrator at Cramer-Krasselt Advertising, was honored as outgoing President.

DUO 2018 is an opportunity for DALIM SOFTWARE users to learn about new technologies and work practices and how they will impact their day-to-day operations. It also gives users the opportunity to learn about the company’s most recent—and future—developments, the chance to meet with other users from around the country, plus the opportunity to talk technology with DALIM SOFTWARE technical and product support staff. The conference attracts graphic arts professionals, brands, retailers, institutions and their respective marketing and communications supply chains from throughout the US.

US DUO opened with DALIM CEO, Carol Werlé, offering an overview of trends in the marketplace and DALIM SOFTWARE’s corporate direction. Werlé explained how technology trends—the Internet of Things, Big Data, artificial intelligence, and the blockchain all have influences on the future development of DALIM ES. “While DALIM SOFTWARE acknowledges our legacy serving printers and publishers, a lot of our growth has come from brands and agencies, because they recognize the importance of not only managing content, but taking actionable actions with it,” observes Werlé.

Keynote Aaron Linsdau, polar explorer and the second American to ski alone from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole, offered a compelling talk about succeeding against overwhelming odds. He spoke about risk, safety, and methods to overcome challenges, using his stories and experiences.

David Lipsey, Global Chair of Henry Stewart DAM Events and Klaris IP partner, explained why brands care about digital asset management (DAM), explaining the difference between DAM and media asset management, production asset management document management, and web content management. “What we need from a DAM is beyond taxonomy. We need a hybrid and recurring capital for projects,” explained Lipsey. “We need new leadership that brings organizational and industry change patterns.”

Gavin Drake, Quark vice president of marketing, discussed talked about reinventing the entire content lifecycle, and the importance of creating smart content from the beginning of the process. Fred Sanuy, DALIM SOFTWARE Director of Marketing, reviewed trends in packaging for brands—a topic of interest to many in the room. These included ideas such as personalization and e-labels and processes that are needed to track, maintain compliancy, oversee variants, and repurpose content.

One of the most valued set of sessions is always the hands-on ‘Tips & Tricks’, presented this year by Ryan From of IO Integration, Blanchard Systems’ Alex Rogala, and Rafael Ordonhes from DALIM SOFTWARE. Demonstrating practical suggestions utilizing DALIM SOFTWARE applications with third-party products, Rick Darnell showed how to put together a Just Normlicht viewing station with an Eizo monitor while correctly calibrating DALIM DIALOGUE Engine proofing software.

“What made this US DUO successful and meaningful was not only learning about the future of DALIM SOFTWARE applications, but also valuable user direction about how to make our systems more effective,” explains Jorgensen. “It is also helpful to put everything in perspective. For example, while I’m from print, David Lipsey’s presentation about the DAM process was very informative. I think we will continue to increase attendance by offering topics of user value.”
