2000 A Year of Major Change And Evolution for BST PRO MARK

Press release from the issuing company

The year 2000 has seen dramatic changes at BST PRO MARK, the company that virtually invented video web inspection eight years ago and in so doing, dramatically altered the way which printed webs are inspected today. In the past twelve months, the company has re-invented itself as a specialist in process control systems, has launched a family of new products, has entered new markets and has a new management team in place. New Products Introduced The products of BST PRO MARK today are substantially different than those of just a year ago. The company now has five product lines of distinct process control systems for commercial web Offset, Flexo, Gravure and Letterpress applications: 1. Visual web inspection systems 2. 100% web inspection systems 3. Web guiding systems 4. Automatic register control systems 5. Computerized ink metering systems. During 2000, the company introduced three new Genius™ 100% Defect Detection & Print Management Systems, the AR200 automatic pre-registration system for Flexo central impression presses, the AR400 closed-loop register control system for commercial web offset, the MDS computerized remote ink metering systems for sheet and commercial web offset and the ekr3000 web guiding system commander. BST PRO MARK also began marketing in North America its WEBcon™ line of process control systems engineered and manufactured at BST in Germany, which are used in the manufacture of tires. New Markets Entered In addition to entering the Rubber and Tire market in North America during the year 2000, BST PRO MARK also entered the commercial web offset arena. The company offers 100% inspection systems, web guiding systems, closed-loop register control systems and remote ink metering systems for this market. Management Changes Norm Provan, founder, sold his remaining shares in the company and retired after thirteen years as President. Management responsibility for running the company is now divided among Jerry Peters – CFO/COO, Frank Berendsen - Vice President of Sales and John Thome - Vice President of Marketing. Wolfgang Küster of BST Bielefeld (Germany) is currently serving as President until a suitable replacement for Mr. Provan is found. Million Dollar Order November also saw receipt of a $1,000,000 order at BST PRO MARK, the companies single largest end-user order ever. A leading mid-west manufacturer of converted products ordered nine Genius 100% inspection systems and nine AR200 pre-register systems for their fleet of Flexo CI presses. The systems will be installed throughout the coming year. BST PRO MARK is today a wholly owned subsidiary of Elexis AG, a German conglomerate traded on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange which specializes in process control systems for a wide variety of industries world wide. Elexis has annual revenue of over $300 million and 1,900 employees.
