Dustin Tino Spent 10 Years as an Athletic Trainer While Betsy Tino Established Her Career as a Graphic Designer; Opening Their New Minuteman Press Printing Business in Fairmont Where They Both Grew Up is a Dream Come True
FAIRMONT, Minn. - For husband and wife franchise team Dustin and Betsy Tino, the opportunity to return back home to Fairmont and own a business together was too good to pass up. Located inside the Five Lakes Mall at 400 S State Street, Suite 20, their brand new Minuteman Press franchise is able to meet the design, printing, marketing, and promotional needs of today's business professionals.
"It is really exciting to be back in Fairmont to open our Minuteman Press business," says Betsy Tino, who graduated from Fairmont High School in 2002 along with Dustin. She adds, "We are a full-service printing and marketing design company. At Minuteman Press, you are working directly with us, the owners, and we take pride in providing great customer experiences. We can design and print anything to help promote or run your business while keeping an eye on your budget. We also offer a wide variety of personalized promotional items and gifts."
Already, their homecoming has been a success. Dustin Tino explains, "After opening our doors recently, we are thankful and thrilled about the positive feedback and support that the community has shown. We are excited to be involved in the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce. Because we grew up right here in Fairmont, we have an opportunity to be a part of the same clubs and organizations that supported us while we were growing up."
How to Buy a Business and Transition from Two Separate Careers
After graduating high school together, Dustin and Betsy went off to college and then began their separate careers. Dustin worked as an athletic trainer for ten years, providing medical care for Division One baseball and high school athletes. After that, he worked in an orthopedic clinic treating patients of all ages. Dustin says, "Despite my love of medicine, I just couldn’t pass up an opportunity to work with my wife and start our own business together."
Betsy Tino established an impressive career as a professional graphic designer. She designed for a newspaper, a nationally distributed home improvement magazine, and did a successful re-branding campaign for a university. She then worked in a commercial print shop where she grew through the company serving as sales representative, account executive, mail specialist and project manager. Betsy says, "I love the printing industry and my experiences inspired me to look at Minuteman Press."
Why Open a Minuteman Press Franchise?
Three years ago, Dustin and Betsy decided that they wanted to work together and own their own business. They started researching into what kind of business they would like to own. They had grown frustrated with the direction their companies were going and wanted to provide more personalized customer service for their clients. Dustin and Betsy state, "After our research, we found that opening a Minuteman Press franchise provided that opportunity we were looking for. We have all of the resources and support of the #1 rated printing franchise in the nation while being locally owned and operated. This allows us to provide excellent customer service and quality products to our fellow neighborhood businesses."
Owning this business has also brought the Tino family full circle. They explain, "Both of our parents are small business owners in Fairmont and that has helped us understand the challenges that a small business owner might have. We hope to take away some of those headaches by providing products and services to help promote, market and run businesses in Fairmont. That is one less thing for the small business owner to worry about, and we are here to help! We are looking forward to serving the community by providing great customer service while keeping an eye on each business' budget."
As they strive to help their community, Minuteman Press International is here to support Dustin and Betsy Tino on both the local and corporate levels. "We love being a member of the Minuteman Press family," says Betsy. She adds, "Minuteman Press has been with us every step of the way. We traveled to New York and received two weeks of franchise training that exceeded all of our expectations. Minuteman Press trained us on the printing industry and how to run a Minuteman Press franchise business. When we returned to set up our center, Minuteman Press sent our regional field support representative Adam Peters to stay with us for two weeks, and he provided even more on-site training."
"I am happy to welcome Dustin and Betsy to the Minuteman Press franchise family," says Matt Peretz, Minuteman Press International Regional Vice President for the Minnesota region. He adds, "We look forward to continuing to support their locally owned and operated family-run business in Fairmont."
When asked about the advice they would have for anyone else who is thinking about starting their own business or joining a franchise, Betsy thoughtfully answers, "Do your research, ask lots of questions, and follow your heart."
