Muller Martini’s "Future of Digital Finishing" Shines at Print 17

Press release from the issuing company

Booth demonstrations focus on highly intelligent, end-to-end systems for digital print manufacturing.

Muller Martini devoted its Print 17 booth to Finishing 4.0 systems that greatly alleviate workflow bottlenecks caused by the variabilities inherent within today’s digital and hybrid print production. Leading the way were hourly presentations of the award-winning Connex Workflow System, supported by demonstrations of Muller’s innovative finishing equipment:

  • Presto II Digital. Visitors experienced barcode-driven selective binding performed in-line by today’s most advanced hybrid saddle stitcher.
  • Vareo. This in-demand perfect binder processed a variety of one-off and smaller-run variable products.
  • InfiniTrim. Products were trimmed with this all-new three-knife trimmer (making its North American debut) which features complete automation.

The response to Muller’s offerings was enthusiastic, as printers and binderies welcomed solutions that can help them migrate to the digital playing field, while still continuing to compete in the traditional offset space. And, there was an impressive contingent of international visitors as well, as graphic arts professionals from France, Japan, Mexico and South America spent time learning about Finishing 4.0’s benefits and opportunities.

“We were pleased with both the receptivity and engagement customers brought to our booth,” commented Andy Fetherman, Muller Martini’s Vice President of Sales and Technology. “Finishing 4.0 was introduced well over a year ago, and the market continues to gravitate toward this philosophy, which is all about achieving optimum efficiencies in the changing print paradigm that now consists of offset, digital and hybrid products.”

He added, “Our Connex presentation really resonated, particularly its emphasis on the necessity for a “file to finished product” workflow that’s so critical to digital and hybrid finishing. Muller Martini’s Connex Workflow System is the first—and only—system available for today’s digital marketplace that delivers true file-to-finished product—with minimal manual intervention.”

In addition, customers joined Muller Martini USA for a daily 50th Anniversary toast, complete with the U.S. and Swiss national anthems, as well as a celebratory Blue Fusion cocktail toast.
