Press release from the issuing company

New Online Tool Increases Efficiency and Accuracy in Meter Read Submission Process VALLEY FORGE, Pa.--May 9, 2002--IKON Office Solutions, Inc. today announced the availability of a new web-based meter read service, designed to increase efficiency and accuracy in the equipment meter read submission process. Customers who have service agreements with IKON can now regularly submit their copy or print volume online through a customized, secure web page. Customers can sign up to take advantage of this service by visiting IKON's website, www.IKON.com. "At IKON, we are focused on meeting the needs of our customers, and using technology to make it easier to do business with IKON," said Dennis P. LeStrange, Senior Vice President and head of IKON's North American operations. "Our customers told us they want to take advantage of the Internet to simplify the process of procuring and maintaining IKON products and services, and we have responded with a suite of e-services, including the ability to submit meter reads online." Previously, customers were required to submit regular meter reads either by phone or fax. Now, customers who elect to utilize IKON's web-based meter read service will receive a reminder notice via e-mail to submit their regularly-scheduled meter reads, containing an encrypted hyperlink to a customized web page where meter reads are submitted electronically. The web-enabled service is more efficient for customers and increases accuracy in the billing process, since customers enter their meter reads directly into the system, which provides the basis for regular billing. "Our new web-based meter read service saves our customers valuable time by making the process of submitting meter reads as simple as a few clicks of the mouse," said Eric Dirks, Vice President of e-Business and Field Marketing for IKON. "We also expect that the newservice will increase billing accuracy, since the meter read submission process is automated." IKON's web-based meter read service is part of the company's comprehensive efforts to use the Internet to enhance its business relationships with its customers. IKON also offers IKON Online, a Web-based e-catalog that allows larger customers to order contracted equipment and supplies using a customized website, as well as IKONSupplies.com (www.IKONSupplies.com), IKON's supply sales website.
