Customer Experience Expert Joins R.R. Donnelley Leadership Team

New Position Supports Increased Focus On Creating Meaningful Customer Experiences
May 8, 2002 -- (WhatTheyThink.com) -- R.R. Donnelley named Laura Jean Hughes, 39, its vice president, customer experience for R.R. Donnelley Print Solutions. Hughes fulfills a newly created position, which supports Print Solutions' increased focus on finding solutions to help customers improve their businesses, and enhancing their overall experience with the company.

Hughes brings more than 14 years of professional experience to R.R. Donnelley. Prior to joining the company, she had been director of business marketing for Commonwealth Edison in Chicago. In this position, Hughes was responsible for customer service and marketing communications initiatives and the overall planning, development, and management of the business marketing organization.
Prior to Commonwealth Edison, Hughes spent 10 years with AT&T and played a number of different marketing and management roles. She guided the planning and execution of new business strategies and initiatives, leading to significant growth in revenue and percentage of market share for AT&T in the Midwestern region.
Hughes will earn a master's of management degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management Executive Masters Program at Northwestern University this year. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and business from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. Hughes is a member of the Chicago Direct Marketing Association and the Marketing Association. She and her family reside in Lockport, Ill.
