ORIS Flex Pack - Web Visualizer from CGS Publishing Technologies has been named a 2017 InterTech™ Technology Award recipient by Printing Industries of America (PIA). The judges recognized the capabilities of this unique product for production of low cost packaging prototypes. ORIS Flex Pack // Web Visualizer combines 3D packaging design software with color managed mock-up production. Component parts are iC3D virtual design tools, CGS’ iterative color management, ORIS extended gamut XG inks and CGS custom substrates. Together with Roland VersaCAMM and VersaUV printers, the combination of software, hardware and consumables makes ORIS Flex Pack // Web visualizer a complete, turnkey system for creating highly accurate proofs and prototypes for all facets of the consumer product packaging industry.
“This a real honor for the whole CGS team because ORIS Flex Pack // Web Visualizer represents the integrated expertise of all facets of our business from 3D photorealistic renders to color accurate mockups,” explains Trevor Haworth, CEO at CGS. “Today’s competitive market puts immense pressure on brand managers, designers and packaging print providers to produce innovative designs and shorten time-to-market. Our product enables them to iterate multiple design concepts on screen, in real-time, and then output the final choice, whether it be folded carton, shrink sleeve, bottle or can.”
The latest additions to the complete ORIS Flex Pack // Web Visualizer solution are the new ORIS Cold Foil Solution and the ORIS Varnish & Emboss Option, enabling application of high-end design treatments on actual stock with pin-point accuracy. For package designers and brand owners looking to enhance or upscale their products the new features offer an inexpensive, yet accurate opportunity to experiment and trial high-cost luxury design effects long before committing to full production.
The PIA panel considered testimony from several users as part of the InterTech™ judgement process. Evidence of cost reductions of 30 – 50 percent, faster turnaround, improved proof acceptance, and accelerated time-to-market provided strong support in favor of the award.
“With the addition of ORIS Flex Pack we are now able to produce a physical prototype that allows brands owners the opportunity further upstream to enjoy the actual look and feel of a new package design before it hits the shelf,” commented John King, Operations Manager for The ALC Group based in Kansas City (MO). “With ORIS Flex Pack, The ALC Group has won new business, expanded existing business and lowered an operational cost.”
Haworth comments, “We welcome attendees to booth 631 during PRINT 17 for full product demos of our complete range of products, including ORIS Flex Pack // Web Visualizer and iC3D.”
