Meteor Inkjet First to Offer Electronics & Software to Drive New Samba GMA Line of Printheads From Fujifilm Dimatix

Press release from the issuing company

Meteor further expands its product portfolio with the addition of the PDC-6GMA Print Driver Card and GMA Development Kit for use with FUJIFILM Dimatix Si-MEMS Samba™ GMA 33 printheads.

Cambridge, UK - The first production-ready electronics and software to drive the newly announced Samba GMA line of Si-MEMS inkjet printheads from FUJIFILM Dimatix Inc is now commercially available from Meteor Inkjet Ltd. Meteor Inkjet is a specialist in the design and manufacture of printhead driver systems. FUJIFILM Dimatix is the world’s leading supplier of drop-on-demand inkjet printheads.

Based on state-of-the-art silicon micro-electro-mechanical systems manufacturing (Si-MEMS), Samba GMA printheads are the most advanced technology available today.  With a native resolution of 300 dpi and ink drop size of 5 pl, the Samba GMA 33 can jet a wide range of fluids including UV curable, solvent and aqueous inks.  This printhead is ideally suited for scanning applications such as textile, indoor signage, soft signage and high quality UV printing.

Each Meteor PDC-6GMA Print Driver Card will accommodate up to 6 GMA 33 printheads.  Multiple PDCs can be linked to drive a maximum of 762 printheads.  Used alongside Meteor’s production-ready electronics, powerful and flexible MetScansoftware allows print system builders the opportunity to design as much or as little of the Digital Front End as they choose.

In addition to launching new GMA 33 drive electronics and software, Meteor announces immediate availability of the Meteor Development Kit for GMA which eases print system design and significantly speeds time to market.  Multi-head, multi-ink configurations can be evaluated and integrated using electronics that can then be transferred straight to manufacturing.  The Meteor Development Kit for GMA comes complete with drive electronics, software, cabling, power supply and cooling assembly.

Clive Ayling, Meteor’s managing director comments, “We have a long history of collaboration with Dimatix, having launched our first Meteor-branded drive electronics for Dimatix printheads in 2006.  We are proud to be the first supplier to offer production-ready electronics to drive the new GMA 33 printhead providing customers an easy to integrate, scalable solution with the assurance of long-term, reliable supply for high volume production requirements.”
