A successful Internet company, Datto, knows that print is an irreplaceable part of brand representation.
NORWALK, Conn.--Joe Brenneis and Greg Duffey are modern printing franchise powerhouses in Norwalk, CT. There is no way to understate the talent of two men who worked together in the printing industry for what equates to two entire careers and then proceed to buy a printing business and take their rightful places as part of the modern printing industry that is Minuteman Press International.
For the past fourteen years, the marketing efforts of business owners of all sizes and non-profit organizations have been fortified and augmented by the presence of Minuteman Press in Norwalk in the B2B services community. Since, like their print-veteran bosses, everyone working in the center also happens to have been in the printing business for their entire careers, they can take on those complex jobs and get them from pre-planning through production very efficiently.
Because we have the capability, we do some pretty intricate projects here that many "quick" print shops just couldn't handle. – Joe Brenneis
"We have a great crew and it's easy to manage the shop when you have people who know what they are doing," Joe is proud to add. It is here that, as Joe says, "Each customer is treated as if they are our only ones." The modest construction company is treated with the same care and attention as they treat their bigger, more well-known clients (of which they have several).
Over the course of their tenure as Minuteman Press franchise owners thus far, new clients were quick to discover that what may have started off as a single job could (and in many cases did) blossom into a one-stop marketing experience. Covering everything from trade shows to promotional materials, utilizing one of the many vendors with whom their respected franchisor has built relationships, they are able to get it done, no matter what "it" may be, it seems. As a result, Joe says, "We build relationships with all of our clients, which is why we have a high retention rate. A lot of our clients have been with us for 14 years. We have never had a client leave us for any other reason besides moving or going out of business."
Datto is a large privately held IT company that was founded in Norwalk, CT in 2007 by Austin McChord. They employ approximately 800 people located in 9 offices around the world including Monroe, CT; Rochester, NY; Boston, MA; Portland, OR; Toronto; London; Singapore; and Sydney.
Datto needed business cards and went to their local Minuteman Press about 5 years ago to have them designed and printed. From there, a most productive business relationship developed and before long, owners Greg and Joe were pleased to welcome them to their long-term client base. "We gradually started doing more and more things for them to the point where we now do just about everything from product brochures to wide format trade show materials and direct-mail projects", according to Joe. As the fast-growing digital company picked-up more speed and more success, they recognized the value of their partnership with the modern version of the printing industry, Minuteman Press.
Also, the rapport between the two companies became more enriched by each successful job completed and now the mutual respect is firmly established. Joe adds, "We started with a single contact and now we have at least 10 people in several departments that call on us. We provide unmatched customer service and quality and have their total confidence in us here at Minuteman Press. They are growing like crazy and we are growing with them and enjoying the ride."
As Datto needs to makes its presence known at trade shows, they turn to their marketing services provider for items such as retractable banners, for example. Recently, Greg and Joe's team produced twenty really nice 4 x 8 meter foam boards in full-color and double-sided, customized to complement the Datto brand.
Datto provides business continuity solutions to secure the essential business data for thousands of companies around the world.
Rich Hagedus is a Graphic Designer at Datto and he not only respects the good work he receives from Minuteman Press, but enjoys his connection with franchise owners Greg and Joe. Rich talks about his company and the fact that they discovered that ordering print online may have been the first inclination, but is actually not preferred, "Datto is a very young, fast-growing company that provides Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery solutions, mostly to small and medium sized businesses. Most of our marketing is Internet-based, so it was natural for us to want to order our modest printing needs on the web. I had been working with Greg and Joe for some time when I was freelancing, so when I started at Datto, I started giving them more and more work. It's really nice to have someone local to work with so when an unusual request pops up, or a job needs some special hand-holding, we can just hop in the car and head over to Minuteman Press."
Though Rich represents a billion-dollar Internet company, he is wise to the fact that experience in digital and traditional methods of print is something a progressive business needs to grow as part of an integrated marketing program. He shares, "The great thing about Greg and Joe is, although most of the work they do is digital printing, they have a deep knowledge of traditional printing and they bring those sensibilities to the latest digital processes. There's no substitute for experience. And, they're just a couple of great guys."
