The future of finishing shines at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

Muller Martini’s live demonstrations of Finishing 4.0 reveal unlimited opportunities for new market growth

Muller Martini recently showcased its game-changing “Finishing 4.0” digital networking technology, including an end-to-end touchless workflow, at this year’s Graph Expo. Print service providers experienced first-hand an array of flexible and highly efficient finishing solutions that can help them successfully migrate to digital and hybrid platforms while concurrently satisfying customer demands for conventionally produced products.

“The Future,” Muller Martini's aptly named robot, welcomed visitors to its booth to observe live equipment demonstrations which showed how digital, offset and hybrid-printed products can be processed efficiently—and with Muller Martini's renowned attention to quality—using a smart, highly automated workflow. Throughout, the all-new Connex data and process management system provided seamless connectivity for both digital and conventional print production. Demonstrations showed how Muller Martini's highly automated print finishing systems can produce both long-and ultra-short runs, with variable trim sizes and content, including:

  • Vareo. This innovative perfect binder processed both offset and digitally produced signatures and was fully equipped with an all-new PUR gluing system. The Vareo was recently awarded Printing News’ “Readers’ Choice Top Products Award.” The award recognizes the most significant products introduced to the commercial printing industry within the past 15 months.

  • Presto II Digital. This saddle stitcher demonstrated its remarkable versatility in merging both web and conventional signatures. An array of personalized products of varying formats and thicknesses were processed.

In addition, Muller Martini showcased its MMServices operational improvement programs with an in-booth SLS2000 inserter two-pocket feeder module which had been re-conditioned and retrofit with all-new technology. A highly-engaging demonstration featuring all-new multimedia data glasses which use live streaming video, was also very well received. The glasses enable customers to repair problems directly on the machine with the off-site assistance of a Muller Martini factory-certified technician.

Remarked Werner Naegeli, President and CEO of Muller Martini North America, “This is truly an exciting time for the industry. Our customers need efficient workflow solutions that can connect the finishing of all types of products with all types of print engines. Muller Martini's highly versatile Connex data and process management system synchronizes with every major digital print engine in today’s market. Working with our customers, we welcome the future with digital solutions in bookbinding, saddle stitching and trimming which will continue to exemplify the forefront of finishing.”
