Modern Mail & Print Solutions chose the 29-inch six-color Komori Lithrone SX29 with coater (LSX629C) due to advanced technology that supports direct marketing requirements for fast turnaround and larger sheet size (24x29-1/2 inches). Since installing the LSX629C four months ago, the company reports it has increased its productivity by more than 50 percent and reduced its makeready to less than ten minutes, making it much easier to meet the stringent deadlines direct mail marketing requires.

With approximately 85 percent of Modern Mail & Print Solutions business involving direct mail applications, such as postcards, self-mailers, inserts and pre-printed shells, the installation of the LSX629C, has allowed the company to keep more jobs in-house, take on additional work and still remain a one-shift shop. “Komori’s LSX629C simply fit the bill for us on many levels,” said Shane Cosser, vice-president of operations for Modern Mail & Print Solutions. “The print quality is phenomenal, it is very user-friendly, the sheet size fits are needs extremely well and with all that—it is also incredibly fast.”

The fast job cycle times Modern Mail & Print Solutions is enjoying can be attributed to the LSX629C’s advanced Full-APC automatic plate changing system and the KHS-AI (Advanced Interface) that makes it possible to achieve a very short makeready.  The press also accommodates a range of paper thicknesses and the addition of the coater is speeding time to market by eliminating lengthy dry times. “A large percentage of our customers have to turn their jobs in two days from start to finish, due to promotions they are running.
