Pageworks, a Grand Rapids, Michigan-based print provider with 60 years of experience offering digital, print and communication solutions, installed the first HP Indigo 12000 Digital Press in the U.S. in July 2016. Since installing the press, Pageworks has improved productivity and efficiency, and the company is producing high-quality general commercial printing applications that meet or exceed offset quality.
Pageworks has operated HP Indigo digital printing technology for more than 10 years alongside its offset technology, serving the insurance, medical and education markets. To address customer demand for faster turnarounds, the company replaced its half-size offset press with the HP Indigo 12000. The new press has allowed the company to more than double the number of jobs it produces per shift. The company anticipates that the press will further increase its productivity in the coming months, enabled by automated color management and the on-press Optimizer, which prioritizes its job queue for non-stop printing.
“As competitive as the printing business is, we needed more throughput, automation and a quicker and simpler way to print more effectively,” said Dan Goris, president, Pageworks. “With our previous half-sheet offset press, we were only able to produce three to four jobs per shift, and we’ve been able to double that number by transferring that work to the HP Indigo 12000. We’re also able to run a wider variety of variable data-driven jobs with better imposition efficiency.”
The 29-inch HP Indigo 12000 Digital Press produces the widest commercial application range with superior print quality, and it is enabling Pageworks to produce posters, direct mail, pocket folders, among other general commercial printing applications.
