EFI Partners with GBC to Deliver Innovative Visual Presentation Solutions

Press release from the issuing company

GBC Debuts Quartet IdeaShare featuring EFI's eBeam Digital Whiteboard System at InfoComm FOSTER CITY, Calif.--June 13, 2002-- Electronics For Imaging, Inc. (EFI), the world leader in enabling networked printing solutions, and the Office Products Group of General Binding Corporation (GBC), an innovative global technology leader in visual communication, document finishing, film lamination, and paper shredder products, today announced their technology alliance for developing Internet-enabled office presentation systems. The Quartet IdeaShare system, the first digital whiteboard presentation solution co-developed by GBC and EFI, is now on display at the InfoComm show in Las Vegas. GBC, the world's largest manufacturer of whiteboards and easels, produces the Quartet brand of whiteboard products. GBC and EFI are offering a range of integrated solutions that incorporate EFI's eBeam digital whiteboard technology into the GBC line of products. The eBeam system captures meeting notes and diagrams as they are drawn on the whiteboard and broadcasts them over the Internet in real time. When activated in conjunction with an LCD projector, the eBeam system converts the display area into a "virtual touch screen," allowing users to control the presentation, open applications, and annotate documents directly on the board. "For over 30 years GBC has been bringing innovative visual communication solutions to market," said Rafi Holtzman, eBeam general manager, EFI. "The Quartet IdeaShare solutions embody this market knowledge by integrating state-of-the-art eBeam digital whiteboard technology with traditional communication media such as whiteboards and flipcharts. We look forward to working with GBC to provide individuals and teams with the tools they need to communicate more effectively." "Businesses and schools are looking for ways to improve collaboration and communication," said Courtney Brown, GBC Product Manager. "Through eBeam digital whiteboard technology, we are transforming the whiteboard -- a powerful communication tool -- into a digital presentation system. The Quartet IdeaShare products provide both a physical and on-line workspace for virtual teams." InfoComm, the world's largest tradeshow for the audiovisual systems integration and communications industry, is taking place now through June 14th at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Quartet IdeaShare system can be seen in the GBC booth (#2139). Availability The Quartet IdeaShare systems from GBC are expected to be available fourth quarter 2002 through office product dealers.
