SUN Automation Group Announces Successful CorrStream Beta Testing with HSG

Press release from the issuing company

New digital printer set to disrupt the corrugated industry

Sparks, MD - As a leading global provider of innovative equipment to the corrugated industry, SUN Automation Group announces successful beta testing of its new CorrStream digital inkjet printer with key industry partner HSG. Nearly a decade in development, the revolutionary printer was launched earlier this year. To ensure market viability and test application results, HSG opted to incorporate the first CorrStream at their facility in Bradford, UK.  With over 30 years of packaging converting experience, Sun Automation felt that HSG was the ideal partner to test the new printer.

"Everyone knew digital was coming to our industry and we were ready to invest in tomorrow's technology today," says Ben Ginesi, Managing Director for HSG. "We've always been motivated to do things differently and to try change the status quo. After meeting with SUN and learning more about their technology and market expertise, we felt confident their new digital offerings would allow us to offer customers entirely new print services."

Requests for quick, on-demand printing in the corrugated industry has risen significantly over the years as more brand owners seek high-quality, customized print runs. This is especially true in the developed economies now established with convenience stores, ecommerce, and technology savvy consumers who need convincing at shelf 24/7. CorrStream provides converters a new revenue stream with the ability to work diverse markets and provide a new level of box making.  It also enables customers to have peace of mind knowing the investment is backed by SUN's proven reliability, service, and support.

CorrStream is a self-contained production environment ready to be installed on a factory floor. Furthermore, it is the first digital printer to bring conventional machine setup with continuous lead edge feeding, printing, and delivery to box converters. Void of plates and make-readies, the printer significantly reduces the time needed to produce a finished box . By reducing setup time and achieving speeds that exceed traditional digital presses, CorrStream increases customer production uptime and opportunities to add value. It further allows box plants to be much more flexible on small print runs, providing previously unattainable levels of creativity on small jobs.

While the on-demand market requires fast turnarounds, print quality is also paramount. Proprietary inks specially formulated for CorrStream ensures great detail and clarity. Users can precisely control tone, clarity, color, and coverage to achieve quality and flexibility while minimizing ink costs. Its intuitive and modular design provides users both immediate, value-added results and the ability to retrofit new technologies for future growth.

"We've worked hard over the years to create a technology that truly answers the demand for digital printing in our industry," says Ron Deideman, President of SUN Automation Group. "Finding the right partner in HSG was critical to its success. We discovered early we share a passion not only for the technology but also the mutual understanding of the flexibility and opportunities this provides converters and ultimately brand owners. "

With the vision and foresight to see the application capabilities, HSG entered beta testing of the CorrStream in their production environment in January this year. SUN worked closely with HSG over the next few months to resolve any machine kinks and get the printer running real-world applications. Once installed the whole process took off fairly quickly. By March, HSG were running special corrugated orders successfully on the CorrStream. While work is still being done to meet all substrate challenges, both parties are confident in the future of the technology and will continue to work together to ensure CorrStream reaches its full potential.

"This technology allows you to put the power of choice back into the customers' hands," said Ben Ginesi. "The possibilities are endless and we are very pleased with where the CorrStream is today and the potential it has in the near future."
