locr brings the power of OSM data to the XMPie Customer Base

Press release from the issuing company

Braunschweig, Germany – locr GmbH, the world’s leading provider of personalized maps and geolocation services, announces that its integration with XMPie software will now include the latest generation of personalized maps from locr. This update gives XMPie customers access to a range of map styles they can use to enhance the direct mail campaigns they create for their clients. Attendees of drupa can see the value these maps add to print by visiting the locr stand Hall 07 / B03.

The new generation of maps provided is made possible because locr now uses OpenStreetMap (OSM) as the data provider for their range of personalized and dynamically created maps. The data in OSM comes from a global community of users who update and add to the OSM database continuously to ensure the data is always current and valid.

locr takes the data supplied by OSM and applies their proprietary solution to generate accurate, up-to-date personalized maps in a range of familiar visual styles that can be used in many in a range of communications channels, including the cross media campaigns created with XMPie solutions.

Users can choose from five different map styles and color schemes based on what they are communicating and where the map will be used. Maps can also include graphic elements, such as customized icons or logos that identify the target location. locr GEOservices can also be used to provide valuable information like distance and driving time that can be included in the campaign.

Jacob Aizikowitz, President at XMPie, “Our users are skilled at creating successful multi-channel communications. locr supports their efforts by giving them a fast, effective way to add a high-level of personalization that can lead to greater engagement and higher response rates. XMPie is pleased to be partnering with locr, and to be giving our users yet another way to add value for their clients.”

Leading By Example

The XMPie User Group (XUG) is an independent organization that is dedicated to helping users get the most out of their XMPie solutions. Each year, the group holds a user conference that covers a range of topics to support that goal.

In preparation for last year’s event, XUG15EU, a comprehensive, multi-channel campaign was developed by XUG Executive Director Christian Kopocz with his company Prindoz, in Lübeck/Germany. The campaign used print, pURLs, online marketing and social media to drive interest and registrations for the event.

locr collaborated with XUG to support the personalized communications that were created for the event. These materials included a pre-conference mailing with a personalized map that detailed the route the attendee would take to get from their home to the event. locr also provided maps for the nametags, helping attendees to navigate their way to the hotel from the conference venue (in the unlikely event of getting lost!)

Christian Kopocz, CEO of prindoz and Executive Director of the XMPie Users Group commented, “In addition the relevant themes about XMPie technology, the XMPie User Group also shares effective multi-channel solutions that can be used by everyone in this field. locr is definitely one! Working with locr, we were able to add a fun, engaging element to the conference materials we developed for the XMPie Users Group. More importantly, we could show by example how personalized maps add value to cross media communications.”
