David Scheible of Graphic Packaging Selected as TAPPI/PIMA Executive of the Year

Press release from the issuing company

ATLANTA, Ga. – TAPPI is pleased to announce that David Scheible, Chairman of the Board of Graphic Packaging Holding, has been selected as the TAPPI/PIMA’s Executive of the Year. This honor is presented to senior-level executives in the pulp, paper, tissue or converting industries for excellence in management and outstanding contributions to the industry as a whole.

Mr. Scheible has held executive leadership roles at Graphic Packaging, including President and Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Commercial Operations. Since becoming CEO in 2007, Scheible has helped Graphic Packaging (GPI) more than double in size, significantly improved its profit margins and reduced its leverage by half. The company has sharpened its focus on core markets such as food beverage and other consumer products. The human side is just as important. During his tenure, GPI has fostered a well-managed company culture where more than 12,500 employees worldwide show a strong commitment to corporate values, operational excellence, sustainability, continuous improvement and customer service.

Mr. Scheible also serves on the Board of Directors of Benchmark Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: BHE), on the Board of Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Newnan, GA, and the Metro Area Chamber of Commerce where he was chair of the education committee for the last 5 years. He is the immediate past Chairman of American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA). Last year he was a winner of the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year in the Southeast for industrials as well as the Executive Papermaker of the Year award from PaperAge.

David Scheible holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from Purdue University and an M.S.I.A. from the Krannert School of Business at Purdue University.
