Press release from the issuing company

MONTREAL, May 23 - Domtar Inc. is pleased to announce that it has obtained the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Chain of Custody (CoC) certification for its Canadian paper distribution operations, Buntin Reid. As a result, Domtar's new line of FSC certified papers - Domtar Cornwall Coated Cover and Domtar Plainfield Opaque launched recently are now available through an entirely certified supply chain. "When we introduced our new line of FSC certified papers at the Forest Leadership Forum in Atlanta last month, we stated that we would bring our commitment one step further and provide customers with an entirely certified supply chain from the forest floor to the distribution channel", said Lance Skerratt, Senior Vice-President of Domtar's Paper Merchants Group. "Domtar is proud to have succeeded to do so in a short period of time, thus facilitating access to these papers for our customers who wish to support sustainable forestry practices", concluded Mr. Skerratt. The Forest Stewardship Council monitors activities to ensure that the highest standards possible for environmentally and socially responsible forestry are met and maintained. The FSC Chain of Custody certification is a comprehensive system for tracking & inventorying "certified" wood through all points of process and distribution, from the forest through to the retail floor. Products bearing the FSC brand offer consumers the opportunity to contribute to environmental efforts by supporting high-standard forestry.
