Fuji Film Introduces First 800 Speed 24mm System

Press release from the issuing company

ELMSFORD, NY Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. announced today the first ISO 800 film for the 24mm Advanced Photo System format – Fujicolor Nexia 800. The film features Fujifilm's patented Fourth Color Layer Technology which combines the versatility and ease-of-use of high-speed film with the exceptional image quality of Fujifilm's most advanced emulsion technology. Advances in compact camera technology and the increasing availability of compact zoom lenses with extended focal range have made it possible for amateur photographers to take attractive photos with ease in a variety of situations. The 'normal' range of shooting conditions is steadily expanding: consumers want to shoot not only in sunlight, but also indoors and at night, they want to go beyond still subjects and also shoot stop-action scenes. The growth of ISO 800 film in the market place offers the versatility and ease of use in a high-speed film that many photographers want. This new film – Fujicolor Nexia 800 – especially meets the needs for photographers who enjoy the 24mm Advanced Photo System. With the introduction of Nexia 800, photographers can enjoy the performance advantages of high-speed ISO 800 film with the added benefit of excellent image quality. Incorporating Fujifilm's patented Fourth Color Layer Technology and newly developed Fine S (Sigma) Technology, Fujicolor Nexia 800 delivers vivid, accurate color, exceptional grain and unsurpassed sharpness for ISO 800 film. "Combining the performance advantages of high-speed film with exceptional fine grain and sharpness, Fujicolor Nexia 800 promises to become the standard high-speed film of choice,” said Joe Vaughey, Senior Brand Manager, Consumer Film, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. "With this introduction of the Nexia 800 film, Fujifilm is giving a dramatic boost to our 24mm Advanced Photo System line and providing photographers with a great product to take sharp images with remarkably vivid and accurate colors.” Fourth Color Layer Technology The three color-sensitive layers (red, green and blue) of conventional color film have difficulty responding accurately to certain hues. Fujifilm's Fourth Color Layer Technology employs a fourth color-sensitive layer that essentially enables film to "see” color in nearly the same way as the human eye. This improves color fidelity, especially in the green portion of the spectrum. As a result, true-to-life colors are reproduced accurately, even under florescent light. Fine S (Sigma) Technology With conventional film emulsions, generally the higher the speed, the coarser the grain. Fujifilm's advanced Fine S (Sigma) Technology makes possible exceptionally thin, uniformly sized and shaped flat silver halide grains, which gives this film exceptional granularity. The result is high-speed film that produces crisp, fine-grained images, smooth tonal gradations and exceptional sharpness. Available now, Fujicolor Nexia 800 comes in 25-exposure single boxed, 25-exposure single carded and bonus 3-packs (90 exposures) and will feature the new Fourth Color Layer Technology icon.
