MeadWestvaco Enhances Web Paper Offerings

Press release from the issuing company

DAYTON, Ohio – Web printers, graphic designers and magazine and catalog publishers can get their first look at the new enhancements MeadWestvaco’s Papers Group has made to its No. 3 and No. 4 grade web papers, in a comprehensive new tool kit now available from the company. The paper manufacturer has increased the brightness of its popular Focus, Vision, Escanaba and Dependoweb web papers and given each of the gradelines a cleaner, whiter styling. The papers now deliver truer, more vivid color reproduction for greater reader impact, while also continuing to provide the quality and consistency that has earned them a reputation for superior printability and stable, efficient runnability on web presses. The new tool kit provides an abundance of helpful information on each of the enhanced grades, including features and benefits, complete product specifications (grade level, shade, brightness, gloss, basis weights and opacity), competitive sheets and suggested applications, in a convenient, easy-to-handle portfolio. Also included in the tool kit are test forms printed on 70 lb. Focus Plus gloss and matte web text, 80 lb. Focus Plus gloss web cover; 60 lb. Vision Plus gloss and velvet text; 50 lb. Escanaba Plus gloss text; and 45 lb. Dependoweb gloss text. Produced using four-color process with no varnishes or coatings, each test form shows the same eight images, allowing users to compare and contrast the different look and feel that can be achieved with MeadWestvaco’s broad selection of web papers, while also getting a sense of the papers’ styling, weight and opacity. Finally, the tool kits offer an overview and a complete listing of the company’s web papers, including its Premium No. 1 and No. 2 web grades, and a list of common terms and definitions relevant to web printing. The promotion was designed by VSA Partners, Chicago. Sheet-fed printing for the portfolio and inserts was done by Universal, Boston. Acme, Wilmington, Mass., provided web printing of the test form pages. To receive copies of MeadWestvaco’s Web Papers Tool Kit, please contact your local MeadWestvaco sales or merchant representative or call MeadWestvaco ExSamples toll-free at 800 638 3313.
