Celebrating fifty years of Kongsberg leadership with the super-wide Kongsberg C64

At Serigrafia SIGN, Esko will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Esko Kongsberg, a milestone for the company and recognition of constant innovation in cutting-edge finishing tables. Today, Esko Kongsberg is a world-leading manufacturer of digital finishing systems with many thousands of installations worldwide. Durability, reliability and precision have always been key values throughout its history.

“Digital finishing is a vital part of Esko’s presence in wide format. Esko Kongsberg continues to be key to our future success and that of our customers," explains Ernande Ramos, Vice President, Esko Latin America. We are proud to be celebrating a half century of excellent technology, strong manufacturing expertise and great industry knowledge, and are looking forward to the next 50 years of Kongsberg innovation.”

The wide format digital printing world continues to rapidly escalate productivity, requiring faster turnaround times on an ever-increasing variety of materials. On display will be the Kongsberg C64, a state-of-the-art, super-wide (3210 mm by 3200 mm) digital finisher that offers the highest possible performance. Kongsberg C systems are the first fully-featured super-wide digital finishing systems, with a 3kW continuous duty high-performance milling unit. One of the most noticeable features is the innovative composite traverse technology that provides the fastest throughput along with the highest quality and precision in cutting and routing compared to other systems of the same size. It provides the highest versatility for all sign, display and packaging applications.

New partner Serilon to exhibit Kongsberg V for Sign & Display on Stand H23

Across the aisle, on Stand H23, Serilon, the largest distributor of products for visual communication in Brazil and a new Esko partner, will be exhibiting the Kongsberg V for Signage and Display Production, a cutting table that delivers durability, precision and ease of use at an attractive price. The Kongsberg V series features the same, rock-solid Kongsberg tabletop construction as other Kongsberg tables. Kongsberg V cutters offer a broad selection of tools, providing quality results on a wide range of cutting, creasing, and plotting activities. The Kongsberg V for Signage and Display Production comes with a MultiCUT tool head for milling productivity, along with a camera system. The MultiCUT combines all tool insert options with a milling spindle up to 45.000 RPM, perfect for a wide range of sign and display materials such as flexible vinyl, cardboard and polypropylene to rigid materials such as honeycomb cardboard, corrugated, PVC and ACM. The camera system and innovative front-end software make it the perfect solution for small and medium runs of signs and displays.

i-cut Production Console (iPC) user interface makes operating Kongsberg tables highly intuitive, easy, fast and flexible

Esko has created the i-cut Production Console (iPC), a new front-end operating system that is the common platform for all Kongsberg digital finishing systems, combining the best elements of Esko’s market leading i-cut vision control system and well-known table guide software. The i-cut Production Console drives all functionality found on Kongsberg tables, such as camera control, machine set up, tool recognition, calibration and tool adjustments—with a much more intuitive operating system for users.

i-cut Suite: Software to integrate the design workflow, printing and cutting

i-cut Suite software lets sign & display companies streamline their workflows. i-cut Suite components include: i-cut Preflight handles efficient preflighting and editing of incoming PDF files, ensuring that jobs will RIP and print correctly. It also lets users make any corrections working within the PDF file; i-cut Layout is a module to interactively build and edit sheet layouts, ensuring that jobs make the optimum use of the substrate through intelligent true shape nesting and tiling.

Adding Esko’s Automation Engine manages prepress workflow automation with dynamic workflows from design to the digital press and beyond to the finishing device that are easy to set up and operate. Automation Engine serves as the heart of any size prepress production operation and can also offer automated color management for consistent color. It ensures increased efficiency and throughput and saves time and money. It is an exceptional answer to the daily challenges of print professionals who need to increase quality, reduce errors and drive cost out of the process.

Software to make structural and graphic designs easier

Sign and display shops are learning that creative 3D display projects offer higher margins. This is the reason companies are investing in ArtiosCAD for structural design. ArtiosCAD has the tools to quickly design point of purchase, point of sale and free standing displays. ArtiosCAD brings customers many time-saving features. Start from scratch or run one of many display standards from the extensive library of resizable display designs. Users can identify glue areas and corresponding targets to quickly connect designs or perform simple assembly of displays. There is also support for thicker materials such as papercore-board, along with correctly designing V-notches and edge bands make it easier to visualize and convert designs of this material.

“While Esko is celebrating 50 years of Kongsberg success, the success of our customers is not achieved by cutting tables alone,” comments Ramos. “Our automated workflows and our design tools help our customers add creativity to the displays they produce, while eliminating time and many manual tasks. We look forward to showing guests to our booth how we can help build their businesses.”
