Atlanta, Ga. – This year’s recipient of the Process Control Division Scholarship is Jesse Orach. It is a singular scholarship for $1,000 and is presented to a student who has demonstrated a significant interest in the field of process controls for the pulp, paper, and allied industries.
Orach attends the University of Maine in Orono, majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. He is currently considering staying at the university for an additional year to obtain a Master’s in Business with a focus in Management.
The summer following his freshmen year of college, Orach completed an engineering internship at the Portland Water District, the largest non-profit municipal water service in the state of Maine. During the summers, he works as a Process Engineering Co-op at the Verso Androscoggin paper mill in Jay, Maine.
Orach is a Division I cross country and indoor/outdoor track athlete for the University of Maine, with personal records of 14:57 in the 5k and 25:02 in the 8k. He is also a member of AIChE ,TAPPI, and the Tau Beta Pi Engineering honors society.
After graduation, Orach plans to pursue a career in the paper industry, and is considering staying in Maine to continue his work with Verso.
