Agfa Demonstrates Multi-Vendor Connectivity via JDF

Düsseldorf, Germany – Drupa – 5 May 2004 – Agfa is showing its commitment to JDF standards, connectivity, and to CIP4 as a forum for establishing standardised connectivity, by demonstrating various products from its current assortment that work seamlessly with third-party applications. Agfa’s workflow management system, :ApogeeX, and project management system, :Delano, are among the products that Agfa will be using to demonstrate the benefits of JDF connectivity. Agfa will demonstrate JDF connectivity with more than 20 different applications from 19 vendors, ranging from MIS and product definers, over imposition and step & repeat applications, and production and press controllers. The demonstrations will be taking place at various Drupa locations, including the Agfa booth, PrintCity and the CIP4 JDF Parc. Drupa attendees will also be able to see, appearing for the first time in public, Xantra, Agfa’s Tour Guide to Connectivity. Xantra’s performances will be taking place in Agfa’s booth exclusively. “Agfa is at the forefront of developing workflow solutions that use the technologies of today for productivity now and in the future,” said Agfa’s general manager of software solutions, Jan De Clippeleer. "Within the Graphic Enterprise, we strongly believe JDF and JMF are key enablers of optimised, integrated and automated workflows." Hall 6 houses five PrintCity Factories – Packaging and Label, Industrial Commercial, Web and Publishing, Small Commercial and Postpress. Attendees can watch jobs going through all production stages with their name on the JDF job ticket. The demos include live job tracking, statistical analysis, and MIS (estimation) back to MIS (invoicing).
