HELIOS Releases WebShare HTTPS Support at Drupa 2004 Show
Press release from the issuing company
GARBSEN, Germany, May 3 -- HELIOS Software GmbH, a leading provider of file, print and prepress server solutions has announced the integration of the HTTPS protocol into HELIOS WebShare, the highest- performance server for real time remote file access. This new feature encrypts file content during transfers, and prevents documents from being spied upon while data packets are in transit. In addition to the already existing password encryption for secure log-ins to WebShare volumes, the software now also supports security certificates. For this reason, WebShare is qualified for use in environments requiring the highest security.
HELIOS WebShare makes remote use of file servers via the Internet as easy as if working on a local workstation. WebShare users can securely access a file server via Internet or Intranet, browse files and their content, download or upload files, create folders and manage files as if they were working on a local file server. WebShare runs as a standalone application on all major UNIX platforms, as well as Linux and Mac OS X. Windows 2000/2003 Server support is forthcoming.
The HELIOS WebShare HTTPS support has been completely developed in Java, which replaces the previous Apache/SSL tunnel solution. Enabling this feature is as simple as setting a preference, with no additional installation or integration efforts.
Also included is a dummy security certificate with documentation on how to create your own certificates, as well as how to have them validated by internationally acknowledged verification agencies. The user obtains all necessary information to secure data transfer between their customers and the internal file server in three different security standards, according to their needs. See the documentation at http://www.helios.de/support/manuals/WS-e/HTTPS-add.html
The HTTPS feature for HELIOS WebShare is provided as a free downloadable update for all HELIOS customers with WebShare Software Upgrade Service Agreements. More information about HELIOS WebShare and the security standards it offers is available at: http://www.helios.de/products/WS/WebShare.html and http://www.helios.de/products/WS/security.html
On occasion of the drupa 2004 show, HELIOS offers a 25% discount on HELIOS WebShare (20-user license) to all visitors to the HELIOS booth (Hall 9/D43).
HELIOS WebShare is part of the HELIOS 4th generation product family of network and prepress server solutions.
