SmartSoft Expands PressWise Software Development Into Utah Tech Corridor

Press release from the issuing company

New PressWise development team headquarters opened up near Salt Lake City in burgeoning Utah Tech Corridor

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. – SmartSoft, the provider of industry-leading workflow solutions for the printing, postal and data quality markets, today announced the opening of its new software development headquarters just outside Salt Lake City. Located in Draper, within the booming Utah Tech Corridor, the new workspace will house the expanding technology development and support operations for PressWise, the all-in-one Print MIS, Web-to-Print and workflow automation system.

“The past couple of years have seen PressWise continue to grow, not only in terms of numbers of customers, but also in terms of the breadth and strength of the product,” said Eric Wold, VP of SmartSoft, who heads up the PressWise team.  “It was the first true cloud-based MIS, designed specifically to meet the challenges of the new print market, with the demands of faster turnaround times and shorter print runs, and the need to eliminate touches from the workflow. Unlike the traditional licensed software pricing model, with large upfront payments, demanded by the main players in the industry, we offered PressWise as software-as-a-service, with flat monthly payments and no long-term contracts.”

“This business model, along with the fact that we were offering an all-in-one MIS and workflow solution, including unlimited web-to-print storefronts and built-in workflow automation, has proven to be very popular. This in turn has led to us expanding both our support and development teams, and as we continue to grow PressWise, we want to ensure that we have access to a pool of IT talent that can help shape the product and drive that growth.”

“After exploring several options, we concluded that the Utah tech corridor was an ideal location for us to expand our technology team, with many benefits for both SmartSoft and the employees that we are looking to attract,” said Wold. “It offers a highly educated and skilled workforce, a high quality of life and a growing concentration of technology companies, including Adobe, Intel/Micron and many others, that provide the type of environment ideally suited to our company’s growth. We look forward to many more years of providing great service and product innovation for our customers.”
