A Guide to the Electronic Document Body of Knowledge (EDBOK™ Guide) - First Edition to be Available at Graph Expo and Online

Press release from the issuing company

Lutz, FL - Xplor International, the worldwide electronic document systems association, released the First Edition of A Guide to the Electronic Document Body of Knowledge (EDBOK™Guide) today. The EDBOK will be available in the Printerverse (Booth #4267) at the Graph Expo show, from September 28th to October 1st in Chicago, Illinois, for the special show price of $75USD. Additionally, copies can be purchased online at www.edbok.org after October 6th.

With a limited edition published earlier this year and distributed at Xploration® 14, Xplor has now released the completed first edition, with additional topics covering Information Design, Critical Communication Recovery, and Web and Mobile Delivery. Recipient feedback was used from the limited edition print in order to update the existing chapters as well.

The EDBOK explains industry processes and technologies using a standard vocabulary. The topics follow two common timelines: 1) The day-to-day Production Workflow, which covers ten production job-steps that every document goes through, from Data to Doorstep, and 2) The long-term Document Lifecycle, which covers the life of a document and includes requirements gathering, business-casing, development, and ongoing production. Each topic was contributed by a subject matter expert and peer-reviewed.

The EDBOK project, commissioned by the Xplor Electronic Document Professional® (EDP) Commission, defines the industry subject matter used to evaluate EDP certification submissions. It will also help industry participants in their day-to-day jobs. The project began two years ago and involved over 25 industry experts as authors and editors, most of whom are EDPs or M-EDPs.

Reflecting on the release of the EDBOK, Roberta McKee-Jackson, EDP, chair of the EDP Commission, says, “Publication of the First Edition EDBOK represents a significant achievement for digital document communications. The EDBOK lays a solid foundation for users, service providers, manufacturers, and anyone involved in this continuously evolving industry. The EDP Commission is proud to recognize the efforts of everyone involved in this monumental project.”

The cost of the EDBOK is $149.99USD for non-members of Xplor International and $75USD for members. The show special for Graph Expo attendees is the member rate of $75USD. Bulk pricing is available for 10 or more copies.  For information about bulk pricing, please contact the publisher at [email protected] to arrange for an invoice and shipping.
