Of the three Showcase winners, one was selected as a Technical Excellence in Printing award winner and that piece was also chosen as one of three Leo Award winners. All of the award winning pieces were featured at the AGC’s booth at the On-Demand Printing Expo, held at the Jacob Javits Center. The 62nd Annual Graphic Arts Awards Exhibition is presented by Association of Graphic Communications. AGC was founded in 1865 and is the oldest regional and largest industry association covering the metropolitan New York, New Jersey printing and graphic communications marketplace. The Awards Exhibition has for decades been a valuable resource for thousands of area professionals involved in the purchase, design and manufacture of graphic products. The Awards and Exhibition is a competition and celebration of the finest quality of traditional printing, prepress, finishing and digital technologies created and manufactured by area graphic arts firms in the calendar year 2003. Entries are judged on the basis of production quality and effective utilization of paper, type, color, binding and other media relevant elements. Design and function are also taken into account. Chosen from over 600 entries, the 170 Showcase Award Winners featured in the Exhibition, exemplify the excellence of our industry in New York and New Jersey. These winning pieces were displayed at The Xerox Knowledge Sharing Centre, located at 245 Park Avenue in New York City on April 20-22, 2004. In addition, 237 pieces were designated by the judging panels as Achievement Award Winners signifying production and design excellence, but not selected for this year’s display. The 25 pieces earning AGC Technical Excellence Awards and 10 more selections (total of 35) were nominated to compete for this year’s Pantone Color Excellence Awards. In addition to the above, 11 pieces were eligible for the second Annual NPTA Alliance Paper Recognition Award. In addition, the top three TEA Award winners were acknowledged as the First Annual AGC Technical Excellence “Leo” Award Winners. Named in honor of the late Leo H. Joachim, Founder, Editor and Publisher of Printing News, these Awards were co-presented by AGC and Printing News.
