Agfa Introduces Micro Porous Inkjet Media for Large-Format Digital Printing

Mortsel, Belgium – 6 April 2004 – Agfa introduced a new range of micro porous inkjet media for poster, display and sign printing. The new media are now suitable for printing using the newest-generation pigment-based inks such as they are available from HP, Epson and Canon, but they offer image and colour quality so far available only with dye-based inks. The new :AgfaJet media are suitable for indoor as well as outdoor applications: they are waterproof and work with both hot and cold lamination systems. They are instant-dry materials for prints with vibrant, long-lasting colours, excellent colour saturation and a wide colour gamut. In addition, they are universal-–meaning they are optimised for both dye and pigment-based inks and can be used on most types of printers. "Large-Format Digital Printing using inkjet technology is a market with high growth potential in our industry," said Agfa's director of inkjet printing systems, Willy Van Dromme. "These new media are further evidence of Agfa's strategy to become a leading player in this market, to which we bring our imaging expertise, our total solutions approach, and our commitment to the Power of Print." The new :AgfaJet media range includes: · UIPP Universal Instant Dry Photograde Paper, a universal resin-coated paper, 170 or 250 grs/sq.m. · UFF Universal Front Print Film for backlit display applications, and · PV Premium Vinyl, which is self-adhesive. The three new media are available immediately in various roll sizes up to 60 in./152cm.
