North American’s largest privately owned manufacturer of fine papers and specialty substrates announces distribution and launch events with Paper & People in Milan

Cohoes, NY – Mohawk, North America’s largest privately-owned manufacturer of fine papers, envelopes and specialty substrates for commercial and digital printing, announces it is expanding distribution into Italy.

With the assistance and partnership of Milan’s Paper & People, serving as Mohawk’s distributor in Italy, Mohawk will officially announce the brand’s entrance into the Italian market during a launch event at Paper and People’s Milan showroom, on November 12. 

Mohawk serves customers in over 60 countries worldwide, with international sales offices and warehouses located in Europe, Asia and Latin America. 

During  the launch event, F. Joseph O’Connor, Mohawk’s Senior Vice President of International Sales, will discuss the company’s history, which dates back to 1931 when his Grandfather George E. O’Connor founded Mohawk.  Mr. O’Connor will provide an overview of Mohawk’s heritage, introduce the brand’s iconic product, Mohawk Superfine, and will discuss the company’s diverse and growing  line of fine papers and digital substrates.

“We are eager to introduce Mohawk’s  products to the Italian market.  We believe printers, designers and Italian brands will appreciate the archival quality and timeless appeal of our flagship grade, Mohawk Superfine, and will enthusiastically embrace our entire line of fine papers and substrates,” said Mr. O’Connor.  

The Mohawk launch event held at Paper and People will feature special guest Francis Atterbury, partner at Hurtwood Press, who chooses Mohawk Superfine exclusively for the creation of Artisan Books. Hurtwood Press is an Oxted, UK print production group well known for its expertise in the manufacturing of limited-edition, fine art books for customers in Europe and beyond.  

Mohawk will release a new European swatchbook which represents the broad range of fine papers and susbstrates available in Italy and throughout Europe. The swatchbook features the finest quality premium printing papers, specialty digital papers and substrates, synthetic papers, magnets, pressure-sensitive papers, lay-flat publishing solutions, and personalized packaging options, complete with stocking information.

Following the launch event, Paper & People will host open-house events on November 14 and 15 in their Milan showroom, allowing further opportunity for printers, designers, and the creative community to get acquainted with Mohawk’s premium product line.
