EFI Shows Best Proofing and Velocity OneFlow solutions to Canadian Market

Ontario, Canada – November 17, 2003 – Electronics For Imaging displayed new releases of its top-selling Best proofing products and Velocity Oneflow, the PDF based workflow solution, at the Graphics Canada show held in Ontario, Canada from November 13 to 15. These feature rich new versions are completely redesigned and include new intuitive interfaces, support for PDF/X files, the integrated Adobe PostScript engine and offer multiple device compatibility.
Best Colorproof version 5.0, Best Colorproof Laser version 5.0 and Best Screenproof version 5.0 include the Best LinTool utility for linearization and relinearization of output devices. This powerful linearization feature interfaces with spectrometers from leading manufacturers and boasts a new user-friendly interface. Additionally, these updated proofing tools enable users to define customized color gradations, select special dot colors and allow for composite color printing of unique colors. Support of native one-bit data formats has been added to Best Screenproof along with the PageBuffer format from Harlequin, the Len format from Esko Graphics, the Founder format from Founder and the PCX format.
EFI’s Best Designer Edition version 3.0 is a newly developed, Mac OS X based solution that incorporates the Adobe PostScript engine (Adobe CPSI), an Aqua-based graphic user interface, file support for PDF/X files and Best Color Editor for spot colors. An array of sophisticated features enables small companies in the graphic arts market to produce high quality, continuous-tone color proofs easily and economically.
The integration of Adobe PostScript 3 with these Best proofing products has added an over-printing function enabling support for In-RIP separation of composite workflows and 2-byte fonts. The integration allows EFI to quickly incorporate new developments by PostScript inventor Adobe and integrate new changes into its Best proofing products. Three selectable RIP resolutions have also been added to Best Colorproof, Best Screenproof and Best Designer Edition which accelerate the RIP processes while maintaining consistent output resolution of the printing device.
Best ColorProof, Best ColorProof Lasar, Best ScreenProof and Best Designer Edition are compatible with over 50 printers including models from Agfa, Canon, Encad, Epson, Hewlett Packard, OKI and Roland. Printer support for PictroProof from Fujifilm is available as an option for Best Colorproof and Best Screenproof.
Velocity OneFlow is EFI’s comprehensive, PDF-based prepress workflow system for small and mid-size print shops. New features for this powerful solution include, output file format with separation and composite support, automatic ink key setting support and more flexible file name character length. Additionally, new print functionality and the acceptance of pre-separated PostScript files are also included. Velocity OneFlow enables users to easily guide customized workflows using an intuitive graphical user interface. OneFlow seamlessly integrates into any computer-to-plate (CTP), computer-to-film (CTF), direct imaging (DI) or digital printing environment.
