Press release from the issuing company

PARSIPPANY, N.J. – Sun Chemical’s Jim Felsberg will speak about a variety of packaging solutions for flexible packaging printers at the Harper Anilox SMART Roadshow, scheduled on November 5th at Uteco’s facility in Kennesaw, Ga.

Coordinating with the tour’s “Showcasing Modern Anilox Roll Technology” (SMART) theme, Felsberg, a field marketing manager for Sun Chemical, will talk about low migration solutions, high speed inks, and specialty inks and coatings.

“The needs and requirements of flexible packaging continues to evolve,” Felsberg said. “From high speed/high quality printing demands to the growing trend toward tighter regulations on food contact packaging, to brand owner requirements for packaging that is unique and pops off the shelf, converters need solutions to meet the changing demands in the industry. We look forward to using the Harper Roadshow as a venue where we can help converters understand how Sun Chemical can help with their packaging needs.”

Low Migration Packaging Solutions

Felsberg will discuss how low migration packaging solutions for flexo printers are being defined in terms of solvent-based inks in the marketplace and will explain how low migration inks are just one part of a low migration packaging solution.

High Speed Inks

Developed for high-speed, wide web flexo presses, Sun Chemical’s SunSpectro® Sunsharp® solvent-based inks are formulated to create bread bag and frozen food packaging. These inks are high gloss, resistant to water, fats and oils, and formulated for low odor and low viscosity for enhanced color strength.

Alternatively, developed for flexographic printing on polyester and polypropylene film, SunStrato® Sunester® laminating solvent-based inks provide low solvent retention, excellent adhesive and extrusion bonds and are suitable for use with conventional and high-performance printing plates. Its clean printing and film versatility make it an ideal choice for printing on items such as pouches and various laminated bag structures for a variety of markets.

Specialty Inks and Coatings

Sun Chemical also offers specialty inks and coatings that utilize sensory special effects to engage the human senses of sight, touch, and aroma. Using Sun Chemical’s SunInspire line of coatings, these special effects allow a customers’ product packaging to stand out on store shelves visually through: high luster metallic, fluorescent, glitter, pearlescent, as well as iridescent and soft touch or sandy feel finishes.

Sun Chemical’s specialty inks and coatings allow customers to develop brand recognition through emotions by creating a visceral reaction, developing trademark scents for their customers’ packaging, creating a brand platform of product extensions, and bridging the gap between perception and reality.
