CGS Has Record Year at Print 13

Press release from the issuing company

Minneapolis, MN – Whispers of a smaller, quiet show were circulating at the beginning of PRINT 13, but the reality was quite the opposite on the CGS booth. This year CGS featured an unprecedented number of innovative technologies for the printing, packaging, and brand communications industries. Booth 2644 buzzed with two products receiving the coveted PIA InterTech Technology Award, plus a Must See ’Ems winner, and the entire ORIS color management family of software, media, and extended gamut inks.

“The excitement was palpable,” said CEO Trevor Haworth. “We have received industry recognition multiple times in the past, but this year’s show was a record for us, with three acknowledgements of our commitment to innovation. Just as CGS transformed industry understanding of contract color proofing with ORIS Color Tuner, so now we are doing the same for packaging ideation, collaborative workflow, and cloud-based color management.

Booth Happenings

The show opened with visitors coming to see IC3D Suite – recipient of the GASC Must See ’Ems award. Developer Creative Edge Software chose CGS as the launch partner and PRINT 13 was the worldwide premier venue. IC3D Suite is the world’s first software application for Real-Time 3D packaging visualization, ideation, and design. The program dramatically simplifies the creation of packaging products of all kinds—including bottles, flexible packages, cartons, bags, plastic containers, cans, and more.

As they moved through the booth people saw two InterTech Technology Awards recognizing CGS innovation. The latest edition to CGS’ color management family—ORIS Lynx is a unique, cloud-based system using the patented core technology in ORIS Color Tuner and ORIS Press Matcher (which both won InterTech Awards in the past), but via a secure Internet client/server connection. It is the only cloud-based color management solution to generate both device link and ICC profiles to control the quality and consistency of CMYK or RGB output on a wide range of devices. The InterTech judges appreciated that ORIS Lynx’s SaaS-based solution made it easier for small and medium sized printers to achieve effective color control within their processes.

The second InterTech Award received was by Aproove, a secure online collaboration system for brand owners, agencies, and printers. The judges “were impressed with how easy Aproove’s solution for reviewing and approving proofs was to use,” said Dr. Mark Bohan, Printing Industries of America Vice President of Technology and Research. “They liked that it was non-proprietary, allowing it to be used with existing workflow solutions, and that it was scalable, supporting an unlimited number of users.”

Then on Tuesday evening, CGS hosted a Customer Appreciation Happy Hour on the booth where people stayed late to wind down from the day, enjoy a couple of beverages and talk shop. It was invigorating to hear how well the show was going, how CGS solutions were put in practice and connect with our customers on a personal level. As PRINT 13 wound down to the final day CGS saw the next generation of the industry stop by to learn more. Their interest in new products and changes to the printing world cemented the excitement felt the first four days of the show.
