The Masterwork booth bustled with excitement as its demonstrators displayed its new Duopress foil stamping and die cutting machine and its MK 420 MINI Q high-speed carton inspection machine, both of which were PRINT 13 Must See ‘Em winners and the latter named as a Best of Category winning technology. The award-winning MK 420 Q high-speed carton inspection machine was purchased at the show by Ingersoll Paper Box, a leading folding carton manufacturer located in Ingersoll, Canada.

The PRINT 13 Must See ‘Ems competition, one of the premier graphic arts awards, chose two of Masterwork’s post-press finishing technologies out of a record-setting number of entries this year. Only 49 winning technologies were selected in the 11 categories and the Best of Category winners were revealed during a pre-show Executive Outlook conference. Both the MK21060STE Duopress foil stamping and die cutting machine with stripping, chosen in the postpress and in-line finishing category, and the MK 420 MINI Q full automatic sheet inspection machine, chosen under the color management and quality control category, were named PRINT 13 Must See ‘Ems. The MK 420 MINI Q was also named a Best of Category winner out of four other contestants.

For those seeking to create high-quality packaging, the MK21060STE Duopress foil stamping and die cutting machine with stripping provides the solution. It is the world’s first and only double-station machine designed with a one-pass integrated system combining the platen through the embossing and foil stamping onto the die cutting and stripping functions. The two-platen system boasts a maximum output speed of 6,000 sheets per hour, but because multiple passes with two platens run at one time, users realize an output of 12,000 sheets per hour. Its optimized pressure adjustment provides a better foil stamping result. Its patented design of the adjusting mechanism ensures that the two units have high register accuracy. A separate power-driven waste conveyor belt is capable of removing waste at a high speed.

The MK 420 MINI Q high-speed, high precision carton inspection machine allows a graphic arts firm to increase production capacity, reduce costs, and carry out 100% on-line inspections throughout 24 hours of uninterrupted operation.  The Mini’s new technology removes the cumbersome human inspection process with its inefficiency and inaccuracy and allows the 420MINI’s high-speed CCD camera to detect the slightest deviations from the standard sample. The 420MINI Q has a highly-adjustable patented light source that can make meticulous and accurate adjustments according to the different printing processes, such as laser or holographic foil stamping. This light source, found only on MK machines, can filter the reflective light on the sheets to make the image clear and give the best detection results. The MK 420MINI offers a maximum running speed of 75,000 sheets/hour. It will take a maximum sheet size of 420mmx350mm and a minimum sheet size of 70mmx70mm.
