MGI Launches New Apps for JETvarnish 3D at Print 13

Press release from the issuing company

Melbourne, FL, USA – MGI Digital Graphic Technology, a leading manufacturer of digital printing and finishing solutions, will premiere for the first time in the United States, the world’s fastest digital inkjet spot UV coater, the JETvarnish 3D with a bevy of new field upgradeable options (apps), including the “iFoil”, the “Twin”,  the “Double-tank” and the “Dual-ARC” at Print ‘13, held in Chicago (McCormick Place) September 8-12, 2013 (Booth 3213).

In the last few weeks, MGI’s JETvarnish 3D was awarded the prestigious 2013 InterTech Technology Award for the TWIN and iFOIL options, named a Must See ‘em at PRINT 13, as well as having been named Best in Show at Graphitec 2013 and a Must See ‘em at GRAPH EXPO 2012.  This marks four awards for the JETvarnish 3D in little more than a year.

A press conference will be held on Sunday, September 8 at 11 a.m. during PRINT ’13 in Room S104b, near the shuttle bus drop-off point.  These new applications will be discussed in further detail at the press conference.  Additionally, based on his research, industry expert and InfoTrends Group Director Jim Hamilton will present his comments on the JETvarnish 3D and its’ impact on MGI customers.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
JETvarnish 3D: iFOIL
In combination with MGI’s JETvarnish 3D, this new inline option allows printers and trade finishers to apply true hot foil digitally with or without an “embossed” look and feel, giving finished pieces a high value for a fraction of the traditional cost.  Market available foils make this an economic boon for the customer.
JETvarnish 3D: TWIN
With the introduction of the “Twin” option, speeds for 3D spot UV coating with raised effects are doubledcompared to the standard configuration. MGI’s exclusive inkjet technology features a fixed-head configuration, producing the new speed boost in just one pass while maintaining precise registration. Additionally, the TWIN option opens the door to new applications such as Braille by doubling the thickness to 200 microns in one pass.
JETvarnish 3D: TANK
The “Double-Tank” option allows for two types of varnish formulas to be loaded simultaneously into the JETvarnish3D allowing for quick change-over between different types of applications and specialty varnishes.
JETvarnish 3D: ARC
A second Automatic Registration Camera (ARC) system now permits operators to eliminate both print registration and skewing issues.  Using a sophisticated algorithm, the Dual-ARC camera adjusts the varnish image file on the fly, sheet-by-sheet, perfect for handling digitally printed jobs with variable skewing, offset printed sheets that have been warped during lamination, and for jobs that have printed multiple-up that have been cut down.  Another major advantage of the Dual-ARC registration system is that it allows for 12x18 format jobs to be fed by the short side, thereby increasing productivity by one-third.
MGI will also present the flagship Meteor series of digital presses, featuring the Meteor DP8700 XL (paper, plastics & envelopes, plus sheet sizes up to 330x1020 mm/ 13x40” in production) and Meteor DP8700 S (paper and envelopes), both of which operate at speeds up to 4,260 A4/letter pages per hour.
