Derry, NH (USA) – At booth 2376 during Print 2013, September 8-12, Allen Datagraph Systems Inc. (ADSI) will demonstrate two 2013 Must See Em Award recipients: its iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label System, a complete turnkey table-top digital solution built to print and finish labels for label convertors, commercial printers and brand owners of all sizes. The iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label System, designed and manufactured in the U.S., is comprised of both the iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label Printer, a high-resolution roll-fed CMYK print engine featuring LED toner technology, and the iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label Finisher that laminates, integrates die-less die cutting, and then strips, slits and rewinds to finished rolls of labels.
“We are thrilled to display two Must See Ems on our Print 2013 and CPP Expo booth. With nearly 1000 systems of all models installed worldwide, we have been very successful selling cost-effective, complete digital label systems. The iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label System is our answer for those who desire the ability to manufacture—print and finish—labels in a complete, all digital workflow with greater productivity. It provides commercial printers a new, profitable business opportunity. The digital label market continues to grow at double digit rates and our commercial printer customers say that our digital label systems help them gain new business and market share while retaining current customers by supplying on-demand short label runs—something that’s difficult to do with larger systems. Many customers report an ROI in less than a year,” comments Mark Vanover, ADSI VP, Sales and Marketing.
The iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label Printer includes an LED toner roll-to-roll printer, imaging consumer-quality labels with brilliant, durable, consistent color at 1200 dpi X 600 dpi, at speeds up to 30 feet per minute. It delivers high definition printing with four-color stochastic screening versus traditional flexographic and laser printer based systems using halftone screening. With a maximum width of 8.5”, the printer has a wide degree of substrate flexibility that does not require top coating and is capable of being used standalone in a pre-die cut label workflow. The AXXIS HS prints on plain paper pressure sensitive substrates at a half to a third the cost of inkjet substrates along with white, metallic or clear films.
Included with the iTech AXXIS HS printer is a Wasatch SoftRIP, easy to use software that manages all print job parameters. The intuitive layout features enable users to maximize substrate usage to minimize waste. A full suite of color control capabilities – ICC color management, tone curve reproduction and unique and powerful spot color replacement features – enhances the print quality of the iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label Printer. The SoftRIP’s color atlas generator internally produces 36,000 process tints for spot color matching and also has an on-board label cost estimating tool. A variable data print option is available – enabling sequential numbering and bar codes along with graphic elements.
The other component, the roll-to-roll iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label Finisher, is able to laminate and contour cut labels of any size and shape on-demand, without a die. Print to cut registration is accomplished via the SMARTMark Optical Registration System, using the Allen DirectCut plug-in to Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw for vector-based die lines. The digital finisher also slits and strips the waste matrix for machine or hand application of labels. Requiring no dies, make-ready, or running waste, the iTech AXXIS HS Digital Finishing System’s versatility and accuracy provide the professional commercial printer with true ‘on demand’ label manufacturing capabilities. The iTech AXXIS HS Finisher can convert label substrates from 4 to 8.5 inches wide, which have been printed by any digital or analog printing system.
“We have engineered the iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label System to offer exceptional productivity and cost efficiency. Thousands of labels can be produced in just a few hours with the iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label System,” comments Vanover. “The iTech AXXIS HS Digital Label System also offers ADSI’s promise of a complete table-top label production system printing high quality labels at an astonishingly low cost per label to produce. The total cost for a custom shaped label approximately 3 x 5 inches, including pressure sensitive substrate, four-color toner printing and in-line film lamination, is less than four cents each. A lot of our customers are profitable after selling as few as four jobs per month. We look forward to showing the system to visitors at our booth during Print 2013 and CPP Expo.”
